Description for Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon 1989
Thank you for taking a minute to read the description of this exceptional Syncro Jagdwagen. Arriving at the responsible decision to place our Jagd on eBay with the intent of finding the new owner who wants this rig the most, ere is your no reserve auction. Due to a recent move into a different home, he Jagd no longer has shelter and we just don't feel right leaving it outside. However amazing this Jagd is, e're much more of an air-cooled household and have decided to stay the course. Not picking sides, e just bend in the bus direction in stead of the van area. This truly sunk in when I realized all my focus was on running the SST in our '63 camper earlier this year and didn't even consider going to Syncrofest in the Jagdwagen. Further evidenced by images on our Instagram account under MountainMicros. Lots of busses, ot so many vans.Air cooled busses or water cooled vans, ne isn't better than the other, imply explaining how we came to the difficult decision to pass the Jagd forward. No yelling, e're all friends here.
If you are familiar with the Syncro community, pecifically Syncrofest, ou most likely recognize this Jagdwagen and know/know of the previous owner. Air or water cooled, ome of the best people I've ever met are Volkswagen fanatics. The previous owner of this rig is one of the nicest and most capable guys I've had the pleasure of meeting. Point being the level of attention, are and precision this Jagd has received has truly been the best. There are a number of YouTube videos and google images under VW Jagdwagen of this particular rig you can check out. The special order, W aluminum drop gates and factory cage make it pretty easy to recognize.
Front & rear differential locks, WD, ranny gear all powered by an '03 VW Golf, LH Tdi. The motor has roughly 140K on it currently and had 114K at the time of the swap. New VNT17 turbo with Bozio nozzles was installed roughly 20K miles ago. The transmission was completely rebuilt by the very best Syncro guy I could find last fall, oughly 6K ago. The wizards at Painter's Grinding here in Denver pulled the transmission, ad it freighted to Oregon for the rebuild and performed the reinstall correctly once the rebuild was complete ( 5:43 R&P, nbsp;.114 3rd gear, 77 4th gear). That tall 4th gear sure is a treat on the highway en route to the camping site. Northwesty big brake front disk brakes, ew rear stock 14" drum & guts. Frost Heater added to make the cold morning starts less stressful on everything. Super nice to have, ust in case. Fuel pump resealed by another great shop in Boulder. The original paint Escorial green does have some touch up in spots and there are areas of seam rust, ome of which is through.
VIN# WV2 ZZZ 24 ZKG 072 152. Ebay didn't like the VIN so they asked me to include this in the listing. The Jagdwagen was built on 7, arch 1989 and left the factory on 29, arch 1989. All "mileage" figures are quoted in kilometers.
The four adjustable & swiveled captains seats, oll out treasure chest rack, xo-cage and winch are all VW factory. It is said there were only 12 J-Code VW Jagdwagens ever produced with this, nd one other, eing the only two Jagdwagens in the Western Hemisphere. It has three full pages in the Stiftung AutoMuseum Volkswagen spec sheet signed by Dr.Eckberth von Witzleben. You read that correctly: THREE full pages on the build. Apparently the only addition not included was the leather interior. Volkswagen utilized this particular Jagdwagen as their display vehicle trying to pitch the concept of a 'hunting wagon' like the Jagdwagen. Within the files that come with the Jagd, opies of original registration (Zahrzeugbrief) showing it was under Zimmert Helmut Gehrmann (signed Stadt Wolfsburg, er Oberstadtdirektor). The original build sheet is all priced in Deutschmarks.
If you were so inclined, ou could calculate the Deutschmark/Euro exchange rate when the new currency was formed then apply that to the current USD/EUR rate to determine what the build would have cost in today's dollars. Of course you'd need to massage inflation as well to get a true feel for the amount. Uggg, oo much math for me. . . . .
An extra set of BFG Mud Terrain 225/75R16 with loads of tread (one of the sidewall torn), inch control, old out tent, arious parts and fluids all stay with the Jagdwagen and will go to the winning bidder. Clean Colorado title in my name ready to be signed over. The motorized windows, ents and rear glass all operate. The sunroof needs an internal worm gear to twist open, ight now it just stays closed. Most of the heating elements in the rear defroster function. Winch works beautifully with the help of in line batteries. Kenwood amp & deck sound pretty darn great. 12v fridge between the rear seats functions nicely. The nautical wood bed needs to be replaced, ime for a new air filter the end of August and is due for an oil change in 500K. Electrics work, ncluding the spotlight over the spare in back which is switched on when placed into reverse gear. Straight pipes makes this diesel ALH sound super throaty without being scary.
Writing this description has reminded me how exceptional this Jagdwagen truly is, nd surely I've forgotten to include some of the details. Happy to answer questions, ight just take me a bit to respond. This no reserve auction is not listed anywhere else and is not listed locally; this auction will run to the end with the highest bidder ultimately winning. To that winning bidder, lease be cool with payment and communication. Much easier on everyone when we follow The Golden Rule. I am willing to help, ithin reason, etting the rig to your shipper or helping pick you up from the airport. Would prefer full payment by wire although cashiers check would work, o long as the funds are good. If you would like a 3rd party inspection, lease just let me know when you have that organized and paid for. Would prefer to see the Jagd stay on this side of the Atlantic but the winning bidder get to make that choice.
Please remember that cool ain't cheap and the guy bidding after you might also have a clear understanding about how special this Jagdwagen really is. Happy bidding and Bon Chance!
