Description for Volkswagen Beetle - Classic 1964
Summary - NO RESERVE! HIGH BIDDER WINS!
This is a mostly original 64 and rare to be found in the Northeast. The history of the car is interesting.. The car was stored in a storage facility in Kansas since about 1978 until I bought it a few years ago, o much of it is in original condition. That said, t was used as a regular driver to that point and how I would describe it. The car is solid is used regularly, tarts and runs, rives great and can be enjoyed as is. It does have some rust starting in common areas etc and again is not a restored car. I drove it last summer even several trips to the shore and it does 70easily on the highway. it's a great ride to have fun, t gets looks everywhere I go and can be driven as is or continued to be upgraded at the buyers discretion. I also have an original steel period correct roof rack that came with it which is another rare and expensive option.
The car was painted at some point likely before it's storage and does show drips, uns, tc. up close. It's Pearl White with the classictwo- tone coral/white interior. The body is fairly clean, ut normal scratches, mall dings etc. should be expected as on a 50 year old driver, ikewise it does have some surface rust beginning in the lower rear qtr panels, ome in the rocker and heater channels, ut not to the point of issue or needed replacement.
It has been updated and refreshed mechanically for safety and performance. At some point in it's life the 1200 engine was changed to a stronger 72 1600 DP and the floors were replaced by the PO. I had the local VW expert go over the car on delivery to make it road ready and update where appropriate. Overall I have over $10,000 in the car a file full of all receipts detailing the recent work. A couple of key highlights include:
- Professionally converted to 12 volts including new wiper motor.
- New battery,
- New dual Weber Carbs for added torque and power.
- Electronic ignition
- New Rear Main Seal
- New BRM period correct wheels and tires.
- All hoses/lines, rakes, luids, une up parts, tc. etc.
- New Headliner - does need to be tucked in the corner as it pulled out a little.
- New Rear Pop out window seals inner & outer
- New Wolfsburg Crest Chrome seatbelts
- Original period correct steel roof rack!!

Additional Info from Questions
- No Trades
- Donothave the original steel wheels. (I do have original period correct aftermarket Mengel chrome slots from Brazil for sale separately)
- Donothave the original 1200 motor
- Again, the car is a 50 year old used car and hasnotbeen restored and was used likely as a daily driver for close to 15 years with a poor repaint at some point in it's life. That said, ish eyes, drips, uns in the paint with some minor dings, ome bondo spots, tc. should be expected as a "15 footer", ut still looks pretty good for it's age as it was off the road for close to 35 years from what i can tell from the mentioned storage.
- Rust is beginning in the lower quarters above the rockers with some bubbling. Rockers do have some rust through, ut are mostly solid and you can stand on them no problem. Heater channels are the same, ome rust through, ut worked fine this winter.
- It does leak some oil as most VW's and 50 year old cars do, uti did just have the rear main seal RMS redone professionallyto address the majority of the 37 year old engine leak, ut again it's a 37 year old engine so it does leak a little.
- To summarize and be as transparent as possible. This isnot a restored car. It does have some rust in the common areas that could use attention, BUT does not require it structurally from what I've been told at this point it's still cosmetic and up to the new owner to determine what they want to spend or do. I've driven the car as is and tried to keep some of the original patina and enjoyed it as is.
