Awesome German survivor Type 1 Bu, ou just dont see everyday on the road.
well, nless you are in Az where they dont rust, ou do see them more often
then most states :)
SW car with minimal rust, ouldnt find any actual rot / still probably less rust on this car then
anything on ebay not restored. If you purchase one of our vehicles and spend less time
repairing rust for weeks on end, nd keep more of the original sheetmetal
making your project worth more in the end and spending less money too.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: interior was recently redone like factory including new
seals around all the glass, uns and drives great, rivetrain feels great....
body is in amazing shape for its age, nly 1 spot found that had some previous
repairs / bondo behind dr side door and rear wheel. See below for more details.
ITS A DAILY DRIVER, ES ! hop in and fire it up and take it anywhere around in town
or out of town.
ONE THING: generator light came on the other day and not sure if its
charging 100% right now, ve been keeping a battery tender on it for the last
few weeks and driving it up the block to the store a few times a week for now.
So to be safe, d suggest it getting the generator rebuilt to keep it more reliable.
IF I have time Ill pull it off and do it this week, ut not promising Ill have the time.
Last owner has had it for several yrs between CO and AZ, nbsp;Its not perfect but
then again, ts not restored 100% either. Car has been licensed and driven for
few yrs and not parked much.

Desert SW cars are time capsules and the best kind of project to restore.
Its just a fact that the AZ dry desert climate is much nicer to our vehicles
sheetmetal, lthough at times the plastic, inyl and rubber take a beating.
DRIVETRAIN:
best we can tell its still a 1200 cc motor, ot sure if its the original or not.
Manual transmission and clutch feel good too. Starts right up all the time
and drives down the road like an old Bug should. Shifts nice as well. The
motor actually is in cleaner shape underneath the most VWs Ive come
across over the yrs. Once in a while it grinds when shifting from one
gear to another, o not sure if its clutch related or in the synchros but
Its not horrible, ut maybe all old Bugs do this, ot really sure.
Check out the pics. 1 note, nbsp;Ive not cleaned under the engine
at all since we've had it, nd the sign of any oil leaks seems to be pretty
minimal, hich is pretty rare for older VWs. It was tuned up recently with
the basics, ut its getting ready for an oil change.

INTERIOR: nice new Ivory interior !
take a look, he interior just had alot of money thrown at it, ncluding front
and rear seats, arpet kit, indow seals and more. It really looks great in pics
and to me it looks as nice in person. Its clean enough to drive around as is
every day. Original Sapphire radio lights up, ut not sure if its not working or
if its the speaker not working. Windows work like normal too.
Would need very little work inside the car. Not sure if the speedo or wipers
work, ut Ill try them this week. Its still 6V system with a Yellow Optima battery.
My understanding is that materials used in the interior resto, as the nicer
stuff on the market from Germany. I cant verify that 100% but the last owner
said he used the better quality parts available. It does look nice.
The previous owner has some thing taped to the steering column, ot exactly
sure what it is, ut you can feel it from time to time. New rubber pedal covers
come with the car too (Not installed yet).

EXTERIOR: the Red exterior paint was just buffed out last week and
Looks great. IN some pics the paint looks dry and dull, hose pics are BEFORE
We buffed out the old enamel paint. The pics of the car with a nice shine are
how the car looks today.
DAMAGE: I found only 1 place I can see where
the car has had damage and its obvious in person and easy to see. NOT as easy to see in
pics which is why I want to make sure I point it out. Check out the pics below, he
repair was done on the Drivers side, etween the door and rear fender . There is bondo
there. If I where to fix it, d just cut out that area and weld in new metal because
the rest of the car is so nice and clean. Doors still work normal and the gaps look
to be close to original. No creases or other damage found under the car in that
area or inside the door jambs. RED DOES LOOK TO BE THE ORIGINAL COLOR, es.
The redone interior also looks to be done how it was originally.Glass in nice shape.
Both running boards are BRAND NEW on both sides too.
Two of the wheel caps are missing.

SUSPENSION: basically bone stock suspension thats been taken careof over the years.
It drives and handles great !, .and fun to cruise around in. Shocks feel normal
and 2 of the tires are almost new, he other 2 probably should be changed by Winter.
Looks to have never been altered or messed with, eeping with the survivor theme on
this car. Not sure what shape all the bushings etc are all in, ut just driving it around
town as it sits, t feels like a normal older bug driving car.

who really knows what sort of shape its in. Dont find out
the hard and $$ way. At least our auctions show as much

WE SPENT HALF A DAY YESTERDAY WETSANDING THE PAINT WITH 2000 GRIT
THEN BUFFED IT OUT . AFTER THAT A NICE COAT OF MEGUIRES WAX.
IT REALLY MADE THE CAR JUMP OUT AND LOOK SOOO MUCH NICER AND STILL
HAS SOME PATINA TOO.
ALSO, nbsp;FOR SOME REASON THE RED LIGHT ON THE DASH IS STAYING ON
which I believe refers to the charging system. SO MY GUESS IS IS EITHER THE
VOLTAGE REGULATOR IS GOING BAD or THE GENERATOR. THESE ARE NOT
BIG COST ITEMS AND THE CAR STILL RUNS AND DRIVES, UT IM WORRIED
THE BATTERY WILL GO LOW IF NOT FIXED SOON. I WONT HAVE TIME TO FIX
