Description for Volkswagen Beetle - Classic 1973
Hello. You are bidding on a 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle. It is a burnt orange color that looks kinda red in photos. but is definitely orange. I bought this car from the Cape Cod area maybe 4 years ago. I have replaced the engine. and that is really all. the paint is starting to come off in some areas. but there is not alot of rust. Floor pans are in great shape. Runs strong. The engine was replaced about a year ago. It has a new 1600cc stock longblock installed. The carburetor was very recently replaces as well as the oil pump. The tail pipe tips are also very new. The car turns over very well. and runs strong. The only real problem I can think of is the ignition switch will probably need to be replaced sometime soon. It will take a couple turns of the key to click over the starter. but that is an easy fix. I just haven't removed the steering wheel. It has very nice carpet and seats. There is the smallest nick on the drivers seat. It comes with all four floor mats that are replacement. The headboard is in great shape. no rips. it does have some slight yellowing but I’m not sure how old it is. There is one buckle in the back seat that is broken. The exterior is in nice shape. It looks like the hood was replaced at some point. There are no dents or dings. The paint is starting to flake off in some places but there isn’t really any damage. There are detail photos. The floorpans are in great shape. there is no rust really anywhere. There is some small specks on the back fenders from before I bought it. looks like they had a gravel driveway. The biggest paint spot is about the size of a dime. The bumpers have a couple dings in them. The rear one has two. I lived in Chicago for a while. and it got bumped while parked. The gas meter only goes up to half. I replaced the float and resealed the tank. but I think you have to reset that dial on the back of the speedo housing. and I never disassembled it. It will have 4 gallons left when it shows empty. The odometer is not working. Has't worked since I purchased it. But there are maybe 1500 miles on the new engine. Local pickup or seller could arrange for pick up. I like uShip. Lots of pictures! Let me know if you have any other questions!
