Description for Volkswagen Beetle - Classic 1959
1959 VW Beetle for sale
This vehicle presents a rare opportunity to own an unmolested, one owner, Volkswagen Beetle in very good condition. Chassis and floor pans are completely rust free. Car was repainted once in the 1970's in the original and rare Mignionette Green.
This is an original California car which had been sitting, unregistered, since 1989. I purchased the vehicle in October 2015 from the estate of the original owner, whom I had the opportunity to meet and discuss the vehicle with prior to his death.
During our meeting he informed me that he had bought the car new in 1959. The original wheels and the original roof rack are on the vehicle and I have replaced all 5 tires. The roof rack has surface rust but can easily be restored.
When I purchased the car all of the mechanical, fuel and electrical systems were completely gone through and all necessary components were addressed appropriately. Over $2,000 have been spent for repairs on the car during the last 3 months, for which I have all the receipts.
A used fuel tank in good condition was sourced and a new old stock fuel pump was installed. The carburetor was completely rebuilt at the same time and the reserve fuel valve was replaced as well.
The engine was removed and the oil cooler seals were replaced along with the clutch disc, throw out bearing, engine compartment seal and new transmission mounts installed. A new rear main oil seal and new clutch cable were installed at the same time. A valve adjustment was also performed along with an oil change.
The hydraulic brake system was completely replaced including a new master cylinder, wheel cylinders, all new brake shoes, brake hoses, new bearings, seals, axle boots, brake drums turned and new brake switch installed.
The entire electrical and charging system was gone through and all components were refreshed such that all systems are now working with the exception of the windshield wipers. I presume that the wiper motor needs to be replaced but have not checked into it further.
This car represents an honest and virtually rust free original car which can either be enjoyed in its current state or can be restored if desired. The car still has the original radio delete plate in the dashboard. The only items on this car which are not original are the foot pedals and the Bosch 009 distributor. The original items can easily be obtained if desired. I have purchased a set of new, green, seat covers for the car which have not been installed but will be included with the vehicle.
