Being relisted due to a non paying high bidder. Please respect the auction, let's not waste each other's time!
Bidders with zero feedback, please email me first to let me know you're a legitimate buyer. Thank you. Now on to the auction!
This auction is for one 1977 VW Super Beetle Convertible. This VW which still wears it's original Barrier Blue paint is an excellent survivor vehicle. Survivor meaning it's never been fully restored and retains most of it's factory equipment to this day. Quite impressive for a vehicle that is 40 years old. Again, the paint is original, all of the body panels, all of the chrome trim and bumpers, the floors and support rails, as well as the fuel injected engine and transaxle. Never any welding or cutting done to this vehicle. It stills has the original spare tire which has never been used!
It was a California car that has always been garaged or covered. It came to RI in 1999 but was never driven in snow or inclimate weather. This car has had a recent freshening up to make it look and drive excellent. I have over $6000 in repair and parts receipts in just the last three thousand miles. I also have the service history dating back to 1991. Some of the new items include: a new windshield and seal, tires, fuel pump, fuel lines, front struts, rear shocks, muffler, shift rod bushing, and a complete brake job including new shoes, wheel cylinders, lines and turned drums. It also has had a complete tune up: new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, air filter and belt. The valves were adjusted and new valve covers installed. The clutch, throw out bearing, pressure plate and rear seal were replaced at 108,000 which was 15,000 miles ago. All of this work translates into a car that runs, drives, shifts and brakes perfectly. All of the fuses were replaced and all of the electrical components were cleaned and checked, so everything functions as normal.
Cosmetically, the car has received new seat covers and door panels in the original tan color to replaced the California sun damaged ones. The front seat upper cushions were replaced with factory correct coconut fiber pads. The rubber floor mats were also replaced, but the carpeting is still original. A new AM/FM CD player with Bluetooth and rear speaker box provides new tunes for summer cruising. A thorough cleaning and detailing was applied to the entire vehicle to make it look showroom fresh.
Although the car is quite impressive, it's still 40 years old and shows some signs of age. There are slight dents and dings, rock chips on the front hood and fenders as well as various bumps and bruises. They don't show well in the pics, but they are there. All of the touch ups were buffed out to conceal them as much as possible. The right rear fender has had some paint blending at some point long ago, perhaps to fix a fender bender. The paint has discolored in some spots, again hard to see in the pics. I'm just trying to be honest, plus I'm quite picky. The top is in great shape for its age. It was replaced in 1997. It also has a few imperfections here and there, but nothing too detrimental. What I would call this car is a 5 footer, meaning everything looks great from 5 feet away. This in turn makes it the perfect summer/beach cruising car. A car that you're not afraid to drive or leave in a parking lot, and still gets smiles, waves and thumbs up from everyone who sees it.
In closing, this car is turn key and ready to go. Needs nothing but a new driver. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. I have a very reasonable reserve set and hope it finds a great new home. I welcome any local buyers to inspect it in person, just email for an appointment. I will answer any questions or concerns, just ask. The car is registered and insured in the state of RI. It will be sold with a bill of sale and a copy of the current registration. RI doesn't title vehicles over 10 years old so check your local laws for any paperwork you may need. I do have the original California title that will be included in the sale.
Buyers are responsible for shipping costs. I will assist any transport company you hire. A $500 deposit is required through paypal within 24 hours of the auctions end. The balance to be paid within 7 days with cash or a certified bank check. Thank you.
