Description for Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon 1976

If you're looking for a bus to restore and make your own, this is an excellent candidate. We are the second owners of this bus and bought it in 1994. We replaced the original engine with a 2,000 cc fuel injected engine. It currently needs top-end work and does not run. Aside from the engine, the only thing that we've replaced is the radio, everything else is original. It has air conditioning, a rather unusual feature for a VW bus, since they are air cooled. We had the air conditioner completely gone over after we bought it but have no idea what kind of shape it is in now. I'm sure it would have to be revamped again, in order for it to run if you wanted to keep it. It has all the original seats, including the middle seat. The interior is in good shape, all the glass is good. It has a locking engine compartment and gas cap. We have two sets of keys for all of the locks. It has been stored for the past ten years in an outbuilding with a roof and two walls, the front and back of the outbuilding are open to the elements. Better than a carport but not as good as an enclosed garage. There is some surface rust of course and one bad spot that is not rusted all the way through yet at the very bottom of the passenger side panel behind the rear wheel well. See pictures. The tires are old and some rims need to be replaced. The driver side door latch is broken. Exhaust system needs work. Since this is a 40 year old vehicle, it has dings etc., as you would expect. It needs to have a lot (ok, probably all) of the plastic running lights replaced and other things that I'm probably unaware of. But it could be brought into driving shape without a complete restoration, it's got solid bones. And we do have the VW emblem for the front, the pins were broken off of it and it's in the glove compartment. We have a clear title in hand, ready to sign over to the new owner. We also have the original owner's manual and warranty/maintenance manual, along with the original invoice from the dealership where it was purchased and all of the warranty and repair bills, including the bill for the engine replacement. Please refer to the pictures for condition and feel free to ask any questions. We'll do our best to answer them.
