I bought this camper about 7 years ago and I am sad to see it go. I have since had 2 more kids and we need a larger home, and for that I need a downpayment. This van is an unmolested original, just the radio and the propane tank are not. Besides also a few mechanical bits. Everything works as it should and is in excellent condition.
The body is all original, with almost no rust. The previous owner in an attempt to preserve the paint had it clear coated several times over which worked very well. The front and rear bumpers are the chrome that were painted a flat black, which look much better at first but are starting to peel a little now in a couple places. I also have a trailer hitch on that I use to pull a small fishing boat on most of our camping trips. The Westfalia decal is also starting to fade and peel a little bit. The propane tank is one I salvaged from an '84 Westy so the bolt pattern was not exactly the same but made some shimes and works fine. But besides these points the body is in outstanding condition.
The engine is very strong and runs great. Just replaced the alternator and belt. And also early this year I had to replace one of the radiator hoses. The tires are about 3 years old, with very low miles on them. Runs great down the highway everything is straight.
Interior has a small rip starting to form in the drivers headrest, and a small tear in the passenger corner of the tent. Also the odometer has stopped working a couple years after I bought the van,the speedometer still works fine it just doesn't rack up any more miles. Other than that it is near perfect with ALL original curtains, screens, and covers that are in near perfect condition. The water tank is clean and holds water with no leaks. The faucet works very strong and the sink drains fine. The stove works and lights fine. The fridge still works as good as it did when it was installed, in that it keeps things "cool, they never did get very cold. but it will build up ice on the cooler plate as it should. Top bunk cushion is in perfect condition, will hold 2 adults with no problems.
My Van is ready to go camping and I don't have the time right now and I need the money. We are all sad to see her go and hope she finds a good home.
