Description for Volkswagen Beetle - Classic 1962
This is truly not your normal VW Beetle. This dream machine has just over 14,600 original miles since new. It retains entirely original paint and interior, has never been wrecked or rusted and after 55 years on the planet is still at a level where it pulled in a class award at one of the most prestigious concours event in Southern California just this year competing against top level restored cars. This is a truly impressive example.
Sold new in Seattle Washington, the car has remained on the west coast of North America its whole life.
With an average of just 264 miles per year put on the car, it is tight and solid and truly feels like a brand new car. The numbers matching engine has been recently fully serviced with all fresh gaskets and seals,
new clutch, rebuilt original carburetor and all the original engine tins and parts detailed to show level. Brakes and tires are all superb as well and it is a fully operational, turn key driver, not a trailer queen.
The paint and body are truly exceptional. All original paint inside and out. Very nice shine and only the most minimal light chips and scratches. No signs of any collisions or repairs save for a handful of carefully applied small touch up dabs at some point in the past. The chrome is all original, fender beading, body seals, window seals, etc are all still the factory parts. Even the original material for the factory sunroof remains in place and is in shockingly nice condition. The running boards have been replaced with the correct color matching units from Wolfsburg West and the paint on the wheels has been redone, but in the absolute perfect factory match down to the black backs and the black edge at the tire seating surface. The car is as correct as they come.
The interior remains 100% original as well with the only addition being a set of original style coco mats to protect the original rubber mat. The seats remain soft and supple, there are no seam splits or tears, the carpet is original and in fantastic condition. The headliner is still the original factory installed mohair material that shows natural aging and discoloration, but is not torn, patched or loose. The steering wheel is in great shape with only one notable wedding ring chip at the 10 o'clock position. Dashboard is truly spotless and the originally delivered Blaupunkt Wolfsburg radio and speaker are still in place.
This is a true time capsule example.
It is 55 years old, yet it looks as if it was driven off the showroom floor a year ago. The level of preservation is very high. It is extremely difficult to find any car of this era in this sort of shape,
especially in a sunroof car that were normally driven a lot and left exposed to the elements.
The car comes with the birth certificate from Volkswagen in Wolfsburg showing the build and delivery dates as well as documenting the original equipment and numbers. Historic photos and paperwork on the car are also included. Even the original VW keys are here.
Selling NO RESERVE to the highest bidder.
For more information and approx. 100 photos detailing the car inside and out,

The car will NOT be sold away from the auction...if you want it, you must place your bids and watch where it all lands in the end. Its a risk to sell it at No Reserve but the owner is willing to roll the dice
and let the bidding set the value. This could be a spectacular bargain or it could go wild.
Regardless of the end number, finding an equal to this car is not going to be an easy task.
Don't miss the opportunity to add this one to your garage.
