Description for Volkswagen Beetle - Classic 1962
Just finished after being off the road since 1996. Originally from San Diego CA, the previous owner drug it up to the Northwest where it was shuffled from storage to garage etc. I Purchased it and proceeded to fix all the ick and keep as much of the "Cal Look" flavor it had when it was first completed. Was originally Gulf Blue before the custom work, not sure what to call this color. Sure attracts attention and took 2 weeks to match so I could touch up the repairs. Had some of the BEST bad work I've ever seen, so I ended up replacing both heater channels, the drivers side quarter, and both foot wells. Ironically there was zero rust on the pan. Even the battery area is great, and it still has the original tar board covering the rest of the chassis. Now sports a 1970, 1600 dual port that was checked over and re-sealed with new gaskets / push-rod tubes and seals. Carb was also rebuilt as well.New fuel lines were also installed when the car was being re-assembled.Chassis has a dropped adjustable stock link pin beam, new master brake cylinder, wheel cylinders, shoes, and hoses. It does stop quite well. The clutch is new and just about broken in. New shocks also complete the list of work done on the front.I don't know what brand the wheels are, but they look good and have matching Wolfsburg crest caps that match the crest on the hood. All the chrome trim is new and all new body seals were used for the installation of the body onto the pan and the rest of the trim onto the body.It is now a 12 Volt car, all of the wiring in the front is from a '67 Beetle and was part of the re-do, so ALL of the electrics work properly! Including the signals that were moved to the front headlight buckets when they were deleted from the fenders. The interior is completely new from headliner to carpet, and door cards. All from TMI. The seats were re-padded with new foam when the covers were installed, and the top is also new, and slides open as it should.I'm sure I've forgotten something, so look for edits... feel free to ask questions as you see fit.
