Description for Volkswagen Beetle - Classic 1973
This no-reserve auction is for a 1973 VW Bug with 1600 engine and the rare option of automatic stickshift transmission. Basically, you shift this car as if it were a manual transmission, but without a clutch. Instead, you push down on the shift lever, actuating the clutch with vacuum. It is in decent shape, as it has had a recent paint job and the floor panels have been coated in fiberglass to minimize rusting. Additionally, the interior has been redone, with new radio with USB and aux. in connection. This bug shows 18,xxx miles, which are most likely 118,000, but we do not know for sure. It starts up and runs well after warming up. Very minor wear and tear on the engine, such as a few drops of an oil leak occasionally and the front seal on the transmission leaks a little. That's to be expected on an over-40-year-old engine. There is a rock chip and small crack in the front windshield. This bug cruises nicely at 65 mph without being at redline. It has a new front axle (sometimes a problem on these cars), four new front wheel bearings, new fuel pump, new distributor, and many other new parts. The tires have a sizable amount of tread left on them, and one has a small amount of overspray from the paint job. It has a full-size spare in the front, included with the car. Includes an original Bug jack (without handle) and the air deflectors (recently removed and not replaced). Also included at no cost, if you wish, are four additional wheels and tires, as pictured. Three are good to go, while one has an old Sears tire that still holds air. See pictures for more information and judge for yourself. Overall, this is an excellent antique Bug and would make a cool daily driver for anyone interested in a unique ride. For a video containing a walk-around of the vehicle, including it running and driving, see:https://youtu.be/COH4akM4e1o
