Description for Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon 1974
1974 VW Westfalia bus/transporter. It is complete with engine and transmission, but does not run at this time. It rolls and steers fine for loading. This one has the sink, fold out table, I think it had a fridge, but that is gone, but the cabinet above the fridge is there as seen in the pics.
The body has most of its original paint, so nothing is hiding. It has rust in the usual places: rockers, below engine hatch, below front steps, bottom of sliding door, etc. Undercarraige is solid with nice floors and crossmembers. See pics.
Front seats are original but needing to be redone. Even the original center jumper seat is there with its own seatbelt. The original hammock is there that mounts over the front seats and is in great shape. The Back fold-down seat and upper bed upholstery are in excellent condition...I am amazed how nice they are for being 43 years old. Cabinets are in good shape. Upper pop-up tent was removed and will need a new one. Front green door panels are included, but need work.
This may be the original engine and transmission, but I can't say for sure. The engine is complete with the dual solex cabs and they open and close freely. Engine turns over easily by hand. Comes with a new starter that needs to be installed. All of the original aircleaner/airbox parts are included as well as the metal engine shrouds...see pic of box of parts. Odom says 9.020 miles, but has obviously been around at least once.
My son bought this as a project, but is just too much of a project for him, and for me. I am even selling my 77 Westfalia on Ebay now as well...check it out by viewing my other items.
I have a clear, open KS title in hand...van is located near Rochester, NY.
