Description for Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon 1982

Runs great. 177k miles. Had a refurbished original 2.0L engine installed by Rudy at European American Motors back in 2012 and it only has 6k miles on it so it's perfectly broken in. The new motor and installation came to $5k and I've probably put another grand or so into it.
I've had it for 6 years. Always stored in the winter. Prior to life in Chicago it lived in and around Asheville, NC. I hate to get rid of her, but my new job has me on the road a lot, and my new apartment doesn't have a garage anywhere nearby.
Body is in good shape. A few dings and dents but solid. A little bit of seem rust but manageable.
All the camping stuff works. Pop top is in good shape and had been replaced not long before I purchased it. Gas stove works. No fridge.
One super cool feature is there are lock boxes/safes (3 digit combination locks) underneath both the driver side and passenger seats. Good for keeping spare keys, the gas key or whatever suits your fancy. Included in pics. There's also a sizeable lockbox right behind the passenger seat/battery where I currently keep a spare charger that I'm including.
One weird quirk is in opening the sliding door you need to open it from the inside and outside simultaneously. Little quirk.
You'll probably want to add cushions to the front seats. Maybe ultimately replacing them. But I've been fine with them for 6 years.
Brakes are great. When pulling it out in the spring you need to check the brake fluid cause there's a very slow leak there.
Automatic transmission is awesome. She (Linda) sounds like no other. She has tons of soul.
Old original engine is in storage in Madison, WI and ideally I'd like to package everything together to the right buyer. Not in a real hurry to sell. My understanding is it's refurbishable. One of the mechanics at EuAmMo offered me $200 for it, so I know it's worth something. My understanding is that when I bought it for $5k originally there were some small loose metal shards of metal inside the motor that stripped at some of the inner workings. I've never had a look inside myself.
Rear axel boots were recently replaced.
Brand new electronic ignition kit.
New CD player and front speakers (someone recently snapped off the stereo antenna - I know, that's still a thing?) will probably replace soon.
