Up for auction a 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup Truck with a diesel engine, 5 speed and air conditioning. I am the second owner of the truck with original mileage less than 68,000 miles.THE GOOD ( most within the last 1000 miles)1. Motor from my 1984 transplanted into the truck. Motor was gone over with the following: New rebuilt cylinder head from Parts Place in Michigan. New rebuilt injection pump. New injectors, glow plugs and block heater.2. New complete exhaust system3. New Michelin tires4. Fuel tank completely rebuilt.5. New brake lines6. All new brakes7. All new shocks8. AC converted to 134 ( blows cold)9. Shifter completely rebuilt10. Up graded stereo with amp, 4 speakers, and cd disc player11. New sliding rear window
THE BAD1. Headliner was replaced by the previous owner with vinyl. It is sagging and doesn't look good.2. A couple of rust holes in the undercarriage from where someone crushed the metal with a jack. Other misc. rust areas, nothing structural.3. driver's seat cover cracked4. Vent window latches broke off the glass, vents are sealed shut. ( another set of vent windows go with the truck. ( the later model good vents)
Overall a really good truck. Starts right up, doesn't burn oil and no noises from the trans. The paint on the truck is original with the exception of the hood which was replaced by the original owner due to a minor fender bender.Included with the sale are the original red door panels, original wood grain instrument cluster, and the original radio. Also an extra drivers door ( I picked it up due to the rust in the lower corner, looked like it would be hard to repair)
The truck is listed locally so the auction could end at any time.No warranty expressed or implied. Transportation by the buyer.
