Description for Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon 1989
We purchased this VW Vanagon in 2016 here on eBay and have loved it! Here on the East Coast Vanagons are as rare as hen's teeth so we create quite a stir driving around town! Unfortunately, we realized we don't have the opportunity needed to maintain and fix up this van in the way she deserves. It is a tin top, but it folds down into a queen sized bed and has a foldable table. I use it to cart my kids around the town. It is my everyday vehicle! I love the jumpseats in the back; no one is having to crawl awkwardly to get to any third-row seats like in some newer vehicles. The back holds all the gear your kids need like dance bags, swim bags, and guitars. The table is great when you are waiting for one child to be done with dance, another one can use the table to do their homework.Of course, if you're not into the cool mom van it'd be great for camping! The mattress is quite comfortable and even if you don't like the yellow polka dot curtains you can change them for something darker for privacy. The great thing about not being a "camper" van is that it shifts well between an everyday vehicle and vacation vehicle.
Since we bought her we made these improvements:
Rebuilt transmissionNew batteryNew alternatorNew tiresNew exhaust systemNew master cylinderReplaced various ballbearingsReplaced power window switches on driver's side
The previous owners had refurbished the engine and his notebook of repairs will be included as well as a large container of various parts.
We are non-smokers so the inside does not smell. The carpeting has always been covered by us and apparently by the previous owners as well so it is in just fantastic condition! A few improvements you may want to start with are a new antenna for the radio, potentially the fuel tank may need reconditioning, and one of the jumpseats needs a seat belt. There are other minor issues, of course, as it is an older car but there is nothing that is prohibiting me from driving it on a daily basis.
Remember this is an old vehicle, so no warranties are implied and it is being sold "as-is."
Payment is $500 due via Paypal within 24 hours. The balance is to be paid in full within seven days of close of the auction via a bank cashier check. The check must clear my bank before the car will be released. Buyer is responsible for the transportation of this vehicle.
