Description for Volkswagen Beetle - Classic 1967
If you are looking for a One-Of-A-Kind VW Bug, look no further than this Extremely RARE 1967 VW 'Euro' Bug w/ Factory Sunroof! For those who are not familiar, there is an extremely small percentage of European models that are located in the USA. There are distinguishable differences you will find on a Euro model (such as ours), that you wouldn't find on an American 1967 Model (We'll get to that in a little bit). Our VW Bug was purchased from a local owner in Southern California who has owned it for quite some time. It was very well taken care of throughout his years of ownership. The body is very straight and presents a rust free car. Once we purchased it, we did quite a few things to bring it back to life! We gave our 67' Bug a new, fresh paint job in its original Savanna Beige factory color. It's great quality paint job that looks incredible under sunlight! Furthermore, we enhanced the front suspension with replacement of new parts such as shocks, tie rods, and stabilizer shocks. The gearbox also got rebuilt, making the overall driving experience smoother and more reliable. The factory correct single port 1500cc 4 cylinder was in great condition when we received it. New additions to the motor include a new carburetor, and engine firewall...with the addition a fresh service we included. The previous owner mentioned the motor was rebuilt a few thousand miles ago, however there is no documentation to verify that...however I would be led to believe it was, as it's a very strong running motor. The 4 speed transmission shifts smoothly through all gears and runs very well. Other new parts and accessories we bought and installed include: Retro Sound head unit, new white wall tires, new hub caps, new front bumper, new carpet kit, new exterior moldings, new antenna, new running boards, new steering wheel, new arm rest pads, and more!
What's different about the 'Euro' Bug that makes it more special than its American made sibling? On our car, you will see that it comes with factory front disc brakes and 4 lug wheels both on the front and rear, where as the American style Bugs come stock with 5 lug wheels and factory front and rear drums brakes. You'll notice the front fenders and headlights are also different than the American made Bugs. The 1500cc is single ported, which you can see is what we have. The ignition switch is on the steering column vs the dash, and it is also a locking steering column as well. The emblem on the rear says just 'Volkswagen' instead of 'Volkswagen 1500.' This is a 12 volt system as well (first year of the 12 volt, making this model even extra special).
Key Notes: We want to be transparent that this isn't 100% original specifications to the Euro Model, currently. There are a few minute details that you will see not present on our car that a Euro Bug would have, such as certain filters, clamps in the engine bay. This was not intended to be restored back to its factory original condition, but we wanted to have the important items in tact. After consulting experts, it would not take much to make this completely original. We know the motor is factory correct, however it's uncertain if it's the matching numbers motor. The data plate and chassis do have matching vin numbers. In addition, the previous owner ordered the birth certificate for this Bug (see attached photo). You will see this is the correct L620 Savanna Beige color. After speaking with many experts, this indeed is a legitimate factory made Euro Bug that has made its way to the US. This is a very rare car that would be an incredible additional to a collection, or smart investment for this future. Above all, it's a turn key Bug that you can just simply enjoy any day of the week. Roll the windows down, open the sunroof, and cruise the coast in this beautiful bug. Just know that you have something more special than the others.
