Description for Volkswagen Beetle - Classic 1968

1968 Bug with a professionally completed Ecotec motor swap.
The engine swap kit was purchased from Alpha Fab Industries (link below)https://www.alphafabindustries.com/collections/off-road-baja-engine-catalog/products/afi-2-4l-le5-ecotec-swap-combo-stage-5

Cooling:We swapped out the radiator that came with the Alpha Fab kit for a better one and custom made a shroud to duct the hot air below the car. Dual fans help pull the hot air away from the trunk. A custom flame grill was fabricated in order to bring in fresh air. The radiator lines are all hard lined underneath the car and ran to the rear to the engine. Everything was built to be easily accessed and maintained. (planned on keeping this car)
Engine:2.4 liter ecotec race prepped by Alpha Fab. It has a stainless header and flows into a Magnaflow muffler. The intake is a aluminum pipe with a nice bend flowing into a K&N filter. The mount is a custom made aluminum plate. The computer is mounted inside the cab for easy access and tuning. The throttle is drive by wire. A billet mounting plate was used to mount to the transaxle. All unnecessary sensors and wiring have been removed to make sure it is as clean of an install as possible. Fuel cell is inside the front trunk area with a fuel port outside on top.
Interior:Red vinyl front seats and rear seat. Black carpet. Missing headliner still.
Exterior:Flat black. Aluminum wheels. Needs weather-stripping still. Fuel door is on the front trunk lid for easy fueling. Front disk brakes. Rear drum brakes.
Overall summary: This car is a really fun and an extremely fast toy. +-210 hp in a car that probably weighs less then 2,000 lbs is insanely quick. You could put a few more thousand into this car and take it to car shows, etc., or leave it alone and drive it and have a lot of fun (we built it to drive). I haven't seen another street bug with an ecotec, so there was a lot of thought and engineering that went into this build to make sure it was mechanically sound and safe. I built it for my son, thennnn we got distracted by a 1973 Z28 split bumper Camaro instead and went that route for him. You could build a new engine deck lid for it and hide the engine, or leave it exposed for everyone to stare and ask questions. It sounds amazing with that Magnaflow. Since the motor is basically stock with bolt-ons, it should be extremely reliable for many years. Alpha Fab was very helpful and has a ton of after market parts just in case you want it to go even faster :). My fabricator that installed and built everything is an awesome off-road truck and car builder. He really took his time and made everything extremely nice and user friendly. We did not upgrade the transaxle, but if you ever want to upgrade that, rest assured that pulling the engine will be easy. Since the car build, the engine has less then 100 miles. The body is not perfect, but is pretty good.
Car is for sale locally too, so I reserve the right to remove this post at any time. Good luck!!
