Description for Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon 1975
A big part of the appeal of any classic car lies in its ability to transport us back to another place and time, and you're not likely to find anything on wheels that's more evocative than this 1975 Volkswagen Bus Westfalia Camper. With its thoroughly refreshed exterior and customized interior teaming with a drivetrain that's been upgraded to yield more power, this specimen is a category-killer in its niche. While two-tone paint schemes are more or... less the norm on VW buses, the one on display here definitely stands out. The calming green shade encircling the lower portion of the bus is a custom color created by the current owner and it really looks great. Microbuses are often the foundation for customization projects, but this specimen remains in its original configuration, with its one of a kind coloring and single Hella Flood light positioned on the front bumper being the only deviations from how it looked upon first leaving the assembly line. A clear collection of window glass, including a pair of louvred panels at its side - as well as recently replaced rubber - amplify this classic's vitality even further. More than 40 years of service would provide ample opportunity for hard knocks on the road to jar things off kilter, but its exterior alignment is still strong. A compact customized trailer decked out in the same singular paint scheme comes included to offer some additional storage space as you embark on new chapters of adventures. The customized interior features some well-thought out modernization, as well as some stylistic touches to add extra versatility and comfort while also being very much in keeping with the model's "free spirit" vibe. You can clearly see that the priority was to create a great environment for long stints on the road that would be enjoyable for both driver and passengers alike. Up front, a pair of late model bucket seats sit in place of the originals, offering far more support while blending well in this setting. Some serious customization magic comes into view as you work your way back. The remaining interior is as versatile as any you're likely to find in a vehicle of this size, adding a degree of self-containment that's outright impressive as it converts from well-equipped, plaid upholstered passenger transporter to full-fledged overnight camper. The craftsmanship on display is head and shoulders above the norm, with a nicely prepped storage chest, well-prepped wood floor and collapsible table all blended into the mix. Standing ably by in the back, the engine has received a number of upgrades and attentive care to bring it to top form. Beginning its service with the customary displacement, the engine - with a Porsche block as its foundation - was bored out to gain another 100cc, then equipped with a Weber IDF 40 carb, as well as an upgraded camshaft to extract a little more power from its enhanced displacement. As a result, whereas its stock counterparts tend to struggle with maintaining highway speeds, this '75 can cruise at 65-70 without issue. Its electronic CompuFire ignition was rebuilt not long ago, along with the accompanying 4-speed manual transmission, which also received a new reverse gear to up overall dependability. A recent journey to the shop for some additional maintenance included a valve adjustment, oil change, and timing adjustment, so this bus is very much ready for service as you embark on new adventures behind the wheel, cruising on its set of 14" stock wheels outfitted with recently replaced tires. Outstanding craftsmanship blends with this 1975 Volkswagen Bus Westfalia Camper's nostalgia-inducing form and storied heritage to make for a truly one of a kind vehicle. Call today!
