Description for Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon 1967
1967 Deluxe Bus, Model 251 - Deluxe Walk through, Code 130 on the M plate = Deluxe without sunroof. Roof is not original to this bus. Why pay twice as much for a bus to expensive to drive? The bus rolled off the production line in Hannover Germany on August 9, 1966. Production of the 1967 model had begun 9 days before. This was the first year of the 12V electrical system for VW's and the last year of the split window German bus. As an early 67 it is without reverse lights. These are its original colors of Velvet Green and Pearl White. The bus was exported to Texas and then made its way to Colorado where in the late 80's the roof section was added from a donor bus and the outside received a respray. All of the sunroof components are VW factory original. This is not a perfect show condition bus. It is very complete and has original, not reproduction parts. The paint looks nice, after being garaged for three decades, but it has a number of scratches and chips from normal use, nothing major. The seats are Grey Vinyl with white piping. -Seats are correct and original including the 1967 short (2/3) middle seat. -Original Middle and Rear Seat Kick Panels are present. -Interior panels are original VW panels in fair condition. They are mostly the original Platinum/Platinum Mesh panels. -Shelf under the dash has the original Platinum vinyl. - Safari Windows are original VW, not aftermarket. Even the 'one-eyed duck' that holds the wipers is an original, not reproduction. Has VW factory deluxe sunroof with roof windows. Skylight windows and all other glass on the bus, is correct and original VW/Sekurit. Code 130 on the M plate = Deluxe without sunroof and roof windows so the roof is not original to this bus. -Roof/Sunroof Headliners are in very good condition. Deluxe Clock is original and working. -Electrical system is all in good working condition. Front parking lights, headlights (high and low beam) and turn signals work. Windshield wipers work. Rear brake lights and turns signals work. Rear license plate light works. Dash lights (fuel gauge, speedo and clock) all work and dimmer control works. Emergency flashers work. Overhead front and rear lights work as well. -The interior lights are working and have the original lenses. All original Deluxe exterior trim is present and in good condition. - Jailbars and luggage bars are all original and complete. -The original brown floor mats, seat stand mats, walk through ramp mat are all present and in good condition. -Original seat belts are present in front and rear. Missing belts to middle seat. 1967 was first year seat belts came stock from factory. -Rear hatch hinges have the original hinge covers. -All windows are original glass, are in good working condition, and all have their original latches. -Tires are original style bias-ply BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls from Coker Tire. Rims (including spare) have been powder coated. The current engine is a long block the PO bought from MOFOCO in Milwaukee, WI. It is a single port like the original and has less than 10,000 miles on it. The 52 year old original engine comes with the car, to be rebuilt and installed at your choice. -The transmission is the original with reduction gear boxes. It works and shifts great. Clutch was replaced when engine was installed. -Front Spindles, Drag link, Wheel bearings, Brake lines, Wheel cylinders and shoes were replaced during my ownership. Shocks are in good shape PO put under 1,000 miles on the bus in the 15 years he owned it. I've put almost 6,000 miles on it after 6 years of driving it all over the SF bay area, up and down Highway 1, and over to Bugorama in Sacramento. It runs and drives great and is a pleasure to drive. License plates are included with sale to California residents only. I have the original Owner's Manual and it will be included. Vehicle is available for inspection by appointment. Peace |
