Description for Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon 1991
Working on your summer vacation plans?Need a vehicle that'll take you across the continent and more?Look no further! This baby has done us well over the last two years, but the time has come to move on and part with our 1991 Volkswagen Weekender/Multivan!We spent most of 2018 crossing the country and back, over 18,000 mile journey across 30 states and 3 1/2 provinces.
In short this puppy is road tested and ready for another cross country trip. I would not hesitate leaving tomorrow and driving wherever your desires take you.
(Personally, I owned campers before but feel the additional space of a Weekender to be far superior. The stove and fridge are overrated and underused, modern camping stoves and coolers are much better than what they put in these vans in the '90s.)
We installed an rebuilt engine along the way, so the new engine has less than 20k miles on it.
We've tried keeping everything as stock as possible, but here are some of the details and improvements:
(Van is originally Canadian so all figures are metric).
Current odometer 220,00km. (~132,000 miles)
New tires at 199,000km.
New engine at 190,000km.
New gas tank at 175k,000km.
Multiple other minor repairs (belts, filters, etc).
This van has spent its entire life on the west coast (minus the road trip) and sat dormant for many years on Vancouver Island, thus there's no rust!
Perks:
-Excellent stereo! Aside from a smooth running engine and decent tires, arguably the most important component for a 12,000 mile road trip is a good stereo.Stereo includes CD player, auxiliary port, and Bluetooth capabilities.
-ARB Touring awning.
-Functioning A/C! (Driving through the South in May we decided to get this done. Note, it's not a great A/C and no one will ever say that the A/C is great on these, but it does work and it can make a difference on long hot days!).
-Captain's seat on the passenger side!
-Power windows!-Power locks!-Power mirrors!
The bad:
-Cosmetically it's not perfect, but in 'very good' condition with some minor dents and scratches (as 30 year old vehicles often have).
-Blower motor fan doesn't work, but that's compensated by the A/C.
We have all the paperwork for repairs that we've done, as well as from the previous owner. and receipts included!
*Free shipping for local buyers! (I'll drive it to you)
