Description for Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon 1982
82 VW VanagonL ASI Camper Van Air Cooled (Not Westfalia) California Native!. Condition is Used. Local pickup only. This VW has been a lot of fun. I found it a year ago, parked since 2012. In order to make it road worthy I replaced the brake master cylinder, also both brake light switches. Clutch master cylinder. Front brake rotors, pads and flex lines. Front bearings, inner and outer. Upper ball joints. Rear brake pads. Replaced fuel lines from the tank back. New fuel filters, and electric pump. Cleaned injectors, replaced injector O rings. New battery. 16' wheel conversion with 25mm spacers up front, 30mm spacers in the rear. New wheel luggs on rear hubs, new wheel studs up front. Wheels are from a VW Passat wagon. The paint on the rims show some scuffing and scratches, no curb rash. I intended on painting them tan to match the van and never got to it. The original 14' wheels have weather cracks, and will be included along with the original luggs and studs. The windshield washer fluid tank is missing. The tan paint isn't terrible, the brown is very rough! Sun faded, cracked, chipped, worn through. Call it patina? No rust, some dents, and scratches. The ASI top has some cracks and the canvas shows some wear. The window screens have some small rips. It still keeps the elements outside and is in good shape for it's age. The interior is comfortable. The seats and carpet are in good shape. Gauges and climate control leavers work. The AC compressor and blower have been removed. The stereo is an older tape cassette player that has eaten a couple of my tapes, the radio works, and the speakers. Parking brake works well. Rear view mirror is off. The air vents in the upper back of the van are broken or missing. The cooking stove, sink, and refrigerator work. I never used the gas heater, or the gas powered feature on the refrigerator. 110v hookups work. So does the electric water pump for the sink. The plastic control knobs on the refrigerator work, but fall off and need replaced. The table post is a PVC pipe I made, to show where the table mounts. There is also a table tripod for outside use, but the original table post is missing. The plastic around the camper hold down brackets have some cracks and holes, but the brackets are solid and work. The curtains are a tan color and show some wear. Some of the curtains plastic snap slides are cracked or missing. I traveled over a thousand miles this past year, and used it as an every day driver at times. The engine does mark it's territory with occasional oil dripps. The engine runs good, and the four speed shifts smooth. It handles well on the mountain roads, and is fun to drive. If the paint was perfect, this would be a 20K listing. This is a 37 year old original VW. I encourage buyers who are able, to come and inspect the VW before purchasing. It's located near the South entrance of Yosemite National Park. This vehicle is a labor of love, and if you're not someone who is mechanically inclined, please don't bid on my listing. I will accept cash in person, and reserve the right to end the auction at my discretion. Any questions please feel free to contact me.
