Description for Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon 1979
Vehicle Details1979 Volkswagen transporter bus, 7-seater is finished in two-tone Agate Brown (body) and Panama Brown (top) with interior Canyon Brown upholstery and is powered by a 2.0 liter flat-four paired with a four speed manual transaxle gearbox. Equipment includes white 14" steel wheels with hubcaps, front disc brakes, dual carburetors, roof rack, original model front seats with custom fabric, original Canyon Brown leatherette real and mid-bench seats, heated rear window. Seller believes much of the bus’s life has been spent in San Diego, CA before acquisition from a restorer in 2016 from whom seller acquired the bus. Since acquisition, Seller has conducted annual tune up and successive improvements and preventative maintenance. “Lilley” has been a seasonal daily drive for seller to and from her local flower shop and an icon for her business. Off-season (Northeast, US), November through April, bus is stored in a local storage unit. This Type 2 is offered with manufacturer’s “Birth Certificate” literature and Massachusetts title in the seller’s business name. The body was repainted during restoration under prior ownership. Features include dual side mirrors, a roof rack, a sliding passenger-side rear door, 14″ steel wheels wear new VW-branded hubcaps, quarter panel vents, and a single exhaust outlet. All window gaskets have been replaced in recent years by current owner. Exterior flaws include spot rusting. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The interior features new headliners, original front seats upholstered in custom fabric (Full Swing 1940 bark cloth), two rows of rear bench seats trimmed in Canyon Brown vinyl, black dashboard, and Canyon Brown door panel. Amenities include an original Quartz dashboard clock, glove compartment, front vent windows, sliding side windows, a black rubber front floor liner, interior lighting, spare tire and cover. The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 90-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, and warning lights. The five-digit odometer indicates just under 87,000 miles, and the current seller uses this vehicle as a daily driver May through October and stores it November through April. It averages a 4-mile round trip daily May through October. True mileage is unknown.
