1986 VOLKSWAGON VANAGON GL Westfalia Full Camper Syncro 4 wheel drive. Rare 37 year old one-knob Syncro in stunning condition and only 114,650 miles. 5-speed (one granny gear), air conditioning, cruise control. Body and paint in near-mint condition. Interior is in great all original condition. New motor (2.1L rebuild), new complete brake system, new rotors, new cooling system, new complete manifold, and exhaust system. Too much new to name with $14,400 of recent detailed receipts not including paint work and new motor. Was stored for 15 years and needs a handful of things yet to be freshened up. Has new beautiful paint on rust-free body. Under carriage rockers had some rust remediation done. Runs, drives, brakes. Clean title, no accidents, interior is complete and original in beautiful condition and looks like it just came direct from the factory. 95% road trip ready. Needs a handful of things to make it perfect such as steering rack leaks, tires are 16 years old, dash fan doesn’t work, has rumble sound at higher speeds (could be the 17 year old tires), all 5 gears work fine but difficult to find first gear. Not an all inclusive list, anticipate finding more things to update. The major and expensive work is done. All the camp gear is complete, connected and in great condition but not tested. Great example of a rare complete original Westfalia with all the original screens, tools, curtains, knobs, labels etc. Less than 1500 of the full camper Syncros we’re imported between 1986 and 1991 making them very rare yet parts are affordable and readily available.
