1962 Turkis 11 Window OG paint ez project

Original paint bus I’ve had since the ‘80’s. For all the buses I’ve put back on the road this one has sat on the back burner for too long. The rockers were patched but not cleaned up, the driver side was an original VW replacement panel from waay back. Front floors were patched up with non VW flat metal back in the ‘90’s. There are some dents on the rear passenger side that aren’t pretty.

Personally, I think it is perfect as it is.

The yellow paint splotches are an attempt at rust control done by the previous owner. They come off with a light wet sanding. The Sigla windows are fogging and bubbling like they all do. I have some Sekurit replacements, not all. The top has a dent that will stay popped up with reinforcement. I was going to fabricate a metal strap to hold it. The paint on top was cracking badly and has rust bullet on it to prevent further decay.

It has a big nut transaxle from a ‘64-‘67. Front beam is original.

There are no brake shoes inside the drums so it rolls (but won’t stop).

I have the front and rear bumpers and 5 - 15” wheels that are freshly painted Cloud White.

Has a humpback front seat and correct split bus rear seat. I have an original VW headliner (‘64), and the upper rear cards as well. Pics show a rubber mat in the cargo area, it is a bay window mat. I have the original decklid (in a pic), the one on the bus will be removed.

It will need all the brake components replaced as well as a fuel tank, and an engine (no engine included). Steering feels good but I wouldn’t skimp on anything so important. Of course the interior is up to you.

Look at the market for original paint vehicles, polishing and detailing this will maximize its value, a complete respray is a bad idea.
