Description for Volkswagen Rabbit 1980

1980 Volkswagen Rabbit L Diesel
This is a very nice example of a time capsule. Everything this car came with new is still with the car and works. Please see pics.
Runs and drives. I have driven it around the neighborhood a bunch and it drives pretty good. Steers, stops, and shifts alright. 117K seem right.

This car was last on the road everyday in the late 80s then was a Sunday driver until it was parked in a carport in 1994.

The interior is in nice shape for a car this age. No torn seats, sagging headliner, or missing parts that I can see. Only thing that doesn't work is the clock and the dash top is cracked. Radio, a/c, heat, seats, all of that works.

Exterior is fairly clean. It had a tarp over it for many years which caused the rust in the pics. As far as I can tell the rust is all surface and it hasn't rotted though anywhere. Undercarriage looks solid and still has factory paint on it. All glass is blemish free.

Engine is a 1.5(D cast on block), it runs and sounds smooth. The cylinder head and injection pump look cleaner like they may have been replaced at one time. It does lose prime if it sits. The rubber return line is dry rotted. I will replace it if I get a chance, its an easy fix.

The factory manuals come with the car.

A/C kicks on and will cool. It needs a top off of refrigerant to be cold.

The tires are from the mid 80's and will need to be replaced. They are dry rotted and starting to come apart.

It currently runs and drives but needs to be gone over(replaced dry rotted tires, hoses, etc) before being made a daily driver

Comes with clean Oklahoma title.

I bought this as a project but will never have time for it. Please look at the pictures closely. Feel free to ask questions and I will tell you what I know. Please don't ask if you can drive it home. I mean you can if you want, but you are 100% on your own. It has been sitting 28 years.

I can work with you on shipping and I have a guy who can deliver in TX, OK, NM, KS, CO. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs.

Selling as is.
