Description for Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon 1973

1973 Volkswagen Westphalia Her name is Frieda. We bought this bus in Colorado in 2016 for $9,000 not running and not street legal, we spent quite a bit getting it drivable and running well. Basically, all the interior is new. My wife created the denim seat covers and the curtains, we bought the correct interior rubber coverings from Wolfsburg West, and much of the rest from Bus Depot. They also sell many bits and pieces such as replacement handles etc. I also bought a modern side tent from them which I have never used yet. I later found the correct year tent and poles so we used that and never got to the other. It is powered by a 2 litre type 4 motor with huge Dellorto carburetors so the gas milage wasn't great 9mpg but it went very fast for a 49 year old bus. I have replaced all the shocks, brakes, drive cables, drive axles, the tires are 5 years old, Coker white wall radials, it has a front and rear mounted camera, a third brake light and a USB charger wired in up front under the dash next to the accessory parcel try. I had a local upholsterer recover the front seats so they are really nice. no radio as we used blue tooth speakers with our cell phones for music. The underside and nearly all of the bus is rust free with the exception of the rear drivers side above the rear tire, underneath the windshield and apparently just above the muffler behind the rear bumper. Underneath it is really great and solid. it has apparently had quite a life prior to our bring her into our family as the body has been painted some years ago by a paint roller and it appears that some of it has cracks which is probably body filler. We have been fixing and restoring Volkswagens for many years, our adoption of Frieda was to be used simply as a camper to escape the doldrums of life. I never intended to make her a show car. So she runs well and is very camp able but we have decided that an RV is more along our liking. It is not perfect, but I'm hoping her next owner can finish her and really enjoy her. The pop top still works fine when the roof is open there is just a fold out cot in the top so we use it as a shelf. I removed the ice box cabinet because it is much easier to get out of bed with it not in the way but it can always be put back in. I also found a stainless steel sink to replace the plastic one that came with as it has some challanges. We just used large coolers that plug into 12 volt sockets for power like a small fridge. She has LED headlights with protective covers as they are expensive if broken. Honestly all of her dents etc we felt they were character marks so we left them alone. No warranties sold as is, buyer is responsible for any and all shipping. $1,000 deposit due right away if purchasing. I have the clear title in my name. I also have a really nice car cover for her too that goes with. it has zippers at each door so you can access the interior while it is covered. She also has 4 Volkswagen mud flaps, one behind each wheel. It also has the pressurized engine fire suppression system installed.
