Description for Volvo Other 1970

I am relisting this car. Initially, stopped the last auction with 40+ bids to $9,900.00 with two days remaining. I noticed a fuel pump problem and a bidder advised me that the tires were aged. So, bought a new correct Bosch fuel pump ( over $400.00), uel filter, replaced the MAP Sensor with the correct 1970 part, nd mounted four new tires.( most pictures are before I installed new tires) I replaced the headlight and park lamps that weren't working. The frame horn was reinforced to address that concern. Previous work has been done to reinforce the seat and footboard supports. The e-brake mount bracket needs repair and there's one small hole in the passenger floorboard. The outside body rails are good and the floor pans are solid.I think I now feel comfortable that the car is as it should be other than the minor issues mentioned.Certainly better than most 1800e's I've seen.. Here is the original description, nd the replies to the questions asked before. Good luck bidding. Due to the cost of the improvements on the car, nd previous bid history, 'm starting the auction where it left off at $10,000.00 simply to allow the process to include only serious bidders.
Well preserved 1800e that is basically original. It appears to have been repainted original Volvo Safari Yellow at some point in time. The paint is still in good shape. I've photographed the one area where there is some rust. The car was driven and maintained by an airline pilot until his passing.Currently it has 74,745 on the odometer. It looks like that is correct based on the condition of the car and other original components. It sat in his garage for seven years unused until a friend bought it. Having little success getting it to run properly, e sold it to me as a project. I replaced the fuel tank with a new tank, ll fuel injectors, ew fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, lugs and wires, nd throttle cable. Come to find out, omeone had put a later version MAP sensor in the car and it wouldn't run properly.I replaced the MAP Sensor and the car runs good now.Another car has become available to me so I'm selling this rare classic. You probably know that the 1800 has always been collectible. The production numbers are low, nd the car is extremely durable. Recently,a lot of press was given to an 1800 owner that clocked his 3 millionth mile. The body is very rigid and well built as is the reputation of Volvo. More interesting, taly had a hand in designing this car. The B20 Volvo 4 cylinder engine is dependable. In 1970, t was enhanced with Bosch D-Jetronic Fuel Injection. Hence the change to 1800e designation. The gearbox is 4 speeds forward with reverse and overdrive.Pirelli P-4000 radials are wrapped around classic Mini Lite style wheels. The car feels planted when driving and it's just a fun car to tour the highways.I have a Haynes Service Manual, riginal dealer Brochure, nd highly collectible Owners Manual. Please contact me with any questions. I have posted all the pictures I took of the car, ut if you need something I don't have, ust ask.
In addition, lease bid responsibly because if you have the high bid, expect you to honor the sale.
Good luck bidding.

A bidder asked for me to check a few things. He wanted pictures of the dash which are now posted for you to review. Additionally, e asked the condition of the headliner. It's in great shape as you can see from that picture. His final question was if the car has overdrive. The answer is yes. So the gearbox is a 4 speed with overdrive. Honestly, 've never used it and didn't know it existed. Driving it around town and a few trips through the mountains here in WV never gave me an opportunity to even explore overdrive. I'll try to take the car out this weekend before the auction ends and try it out. Hopefully I can post some additional positive information to enhance this car.

Several people have asked for pictures of undercarriage. I added a front suspension and long underbody pictures for you to view. These pictures are representative of everything under the car. I did find one exception on the left front frame horn. There is a drain hole forward of the steering box and behind the LF bumper that clogged, eld water, nd rusted out to the size of a quarter. The lower portion around it is rusty and it extends up the side about 1".This is the only area needing repair that I can find on the entire undercarriage. I feel it should be repaired because one of the steering box bolts goes through the frame in that area and it would make sense to reinforce it.

Also I have pictures of both sides front and rear underneath, s well as pictures of new fuel pump and filter, nd some of the exhaust. All of the exhaust is used but looks good. Some of the plating on the underside of the exhaust tips is missing.Overall, ery little to address considering the car is 45 years old.On May-21-15 at 07:39:26 PDT, eller added the following information:

I had a bidder ask about a few of the electrical components.

Lights workTurn signals workBrake lights workRadio works
RF park light needs a new bulb since the turn signal works but it doesn't . All the rest do. This is easy, 'll just replace it.LF Headlight bulb is out. I'll look for one and replace it if I can find it over the next few days. If not, ou'll need to.
I recorded one minute of engine running and will try to see how to post it to YouTube. If I can't I'll just say the engine idles smooth at 1100 rpm, nd throttle response is effortless. Sounds great. On May-21-15 at 09:09:45 PDT, eller added the following information:

I just posted a video of the engine running on YouTube for bidders to review. It's titled "Volvo 1800e engine video" Tom Westbrook

Took car out this morning. Accelerated to 50 mph. Pushed Overdrive lever down an it shifted smooth and engine rpm dropped. Lifted lever up and it shifted back into 4th.
Made a YouTube Video of driving the car so you could see it run. I'm happy but my video uploading skills are terrible. If you'd like to see it, ontact me and we'll find a way to get it to you.

I had a bidder ask me to mention that the tires have age and may not be safe. I'd recommend that the successful bidder transport the car until they have an opportunity to have it inspected and confirm if any issues exist that may be required to pass their state inspection.

With so many people watching this, hope I've answered just about everything.
Horn..works, replaced park lamp that was out, eadlight bulb is on the way, auges..work, mergency light ..works, ipers...work.
In summary, lmost everything I've been asked to test works. However, t's an unrestored car.
Therefore it has to be sold as is and with no warranty as the listing says.

See the summary of issues addressed and new parts installed to address bidder questions in the first paragraph above.
