1984 Volvo 240 Diesel Wagon I'm reluctantly letting go of my beautiful 1984 Volvo diesel wagon, hich as far as I know is one of the lowest mileage, est condition manual diesel wagons still in existence. I bought it from the 2nd owner in Mississippi roughly 5-6 years ago, ho himself bought it from the original owners, nd it's mostly sat in my garage since. This year I put in a few $1000 in repairs, nd she runs like new. Recently took her on one last road trip from Buffalo NY to Pittsburgh PA and back. Wouldn't hesitate to drive her across the country as-is. The car has been kept in my garage the majority of the time. Itis 99.9% rust free, nd has never been driven in winter. There is some very minor rust on the trim between the side two windows (pictured), ut that is by far the worst. There are a couple nicks in the paint about the size of a grain of sand that show rust and should be touched up. The most telltale places you'd look for rust, ike the door rocker panels and wheel wells, re pristine (pictured). Considering the vehicle still sports its original paint, can't imagine the condition being any better for the mileage.Speaking of the mileage, he original owners kept a meticulous log book going all the way back to when they took delivery. It is a nice record that in my opinion adds provenance to this vehicle. The original complete service manuals are also included, s is the original owners manual. As for the interior, t is also in excellent condition, ith the most significant flaw being that the cubbies on the front doors have shattered, hich is of course not uncommon with the 240.The seats are the original leather, hich is in wonderful condition with no serious cracks or damage. The car is mechanically as good as it gets for this model. The speedometer is a little wobbly at low speeds, nd the car does have a couple quirks that are "just the nature of the beast" for the diesel engine:- There can be a slight vibration at very low rpm's in 1st gear before the car warms up. After a couple miles it subsides. Nothing mechanically wrong, ust the way the car is.- The electronic 5th gear will sometimes not active if the car isn't warmed up. Again, fter a couple miles it engages 100% of the time. Nothing mechanically or electrically wrong. The car had these "quirks" when I bought it and multiple mechanics before and after purchase have told me not to worry about it. As I said, just recently had an experienced Volvo mechanic put a few $1000 into getting the engine in the best possible shape and making sure there was nothing wrong. And finally for the "bad":- There is an issue with the headlights where the highbeams only work intermittently. Possibly an electrical issue.- I think the A/C might need a recharge, ecause it doesn't get very cold. Heat works great though, nd all the A/C adjustments are working fine. Passed NY State inspection just a couple months ago. I've personally in the past ten years only ever seen one diesel wagon w/ manual transmission with lower miles or in better condition for sale, maroon one in southern California that sold for $15,000!
