1971 Volvo 1800e - Rare Blue Metallic (Color 102)

Bought new in Portland Oregon in 1971, this 69k mile car has stayed in the Portland area until recently. The rare color on this Volvo 1800e really is something to look at, it's one of the rarest colors of them all. Color code 102. It was resprayed back in 1989, it shows it age with some fading in areas but overall the presentation in good.

This original 1800e has no rust and is amazing to gaze at. The panels, doors and brightwork (chrome) are all original and are in great shape. This car looks very clean going down the road but on closer inspection there is typical small rock chips, small scratches, overspray and typical sun fades in the original paint. What you won't be finding is any major rust, there are 2-3 small paint bubbles smaller than a pea, near front window, under tail light and by back window, nothing major at all, very minor surface areas. There is a slight color mismatch on the upper rear body panel, between the fin and trunk, all metal is solid. With a new paint job this car would be a showstopper. The front left hood does have a small tweak in it by the hinge, may be hard to see in photos. Overall this Volvo 1800e is in amzing shape for over 45 years of life.

The rare trunk rack is a pretty neat add on they had put on it, very clean. All glass is solid except for a small chip in the middle of the front windshield. All locks work along with the wing windows. Doesn't leak any water, the seals good.

The original interior is very good. The seats looks and feel very nice and the backseat is near perfect. The dash does have 2 cracks and the left drivers armrest has had a patch over a wear mark. The rear backseat does have Volvo seatbelts installed (for the golf clubs) The AC turns on but doesn't blow too cold, it's not needed here in October. Overall in great shape.

The headliner is in great shape along with the fold down top sun blinders. All the electronics work without issue - except the clock. The dimmer switch needs to be looked at, seems a bit finicky. Overall incredible condition for this 1800!

The car runs and drives nicely, it has a huge stack of paperwork where the previous owners took great mechanical work on it. The blue overdrive light does come on when shifting into 5th, but the solenoid doesn't engage, we haven't tried to replace anything, it's all the oroginal drivetrain. When warm for about 10 seconds it seems to be a bit flooded, we believe it's the cold start valve stuck open. Should be a quick fix. It does come with the original Volvo radio in the trunk. Even has the original tool kit!

The undercarraige shows no rust holes or rot. It's very solid.
