Description for Volvo 122s 1963
Up for your consideration is a 1963 Volvo 122s. This Vehicle was purchased new in California, from the dealer by my Mother and has been in the same family ever since. Condition, Fair. Paint is good, just Oxidized.Exterior: Most all trim is present. A few cosmetic dings and dents. I believe all the glass is original. Absent of rust with the exception of two cancer spots. One is in the bolted on reflector in rear, the other at the base of a front fender.
Interior: Seat upholstery is good condition. Headliner missing. Dash pad, as they all do, is cracked and warped. Passenger seat is removed and currently in the trunk, As well as the Spare tire, jack, and lug wrench. Gauges, and lights all appear to function correctly with exception of odometer which has not worked for a very long time (years) in which there is an estimation of 200K on the mileage.
Mechanically it seems fairly sound. It starts, runs, drives, and stops. the issues I know of are the clutch. I replaced the slave cylinder not long ago, which I though to be bad, and when finished, I observed the hydraulic line was cracked. It does shift very easily without the clutch if you know how to synchronize your shifting with engine RPM's. This is an original California vehicle, and was tuned to operate at sea level. I am in the Rocky mountains at about 9,000 foot elevation. It has been timed for here, but the carbs need tuning. I would suggest an eventual rebuild. I know the engine was rebuilt long ago.
The original thought was I would get it going good enough to drive it on a semi regular basis, then continue with a rolling restoration. Then reality set in...Being very busy, and not having a proper shop, nor the funds to spend on any project it is best I sell it hopefully to someone who will appreciate it, and treat it better than I am able. Being that this has been in my family, and having many memories associated with this car, The decision to sell it does not come easily.
Ive posted a few photos. If there is something you specifically want to see, let me know and I can provide that for you.
