Description for Volvo Volvo 1979

1979 Volvo262CBertone Coupe
.
Body:There are is no body damage or rust, the chrome is complete and in very good condition, the paint is excellent. All glass is excellent and carry the Volvo logos, the power windows go up and down well. The is one very small chip in the paint that does not show in the pictures, there are no dents or scrapes. These car were prone to rust under the vinyltop around the windshield and rear window this car is not rusted.
Interior:The interior is outstanding, the carpet is excellent, the natural wood accents have no cracks or delaminating, the headliner is perfect, there are no modificationsor extra speaker holes, the rear package tray is very good. There are no cracks in the dash or wear through in the leather and seat surfaces have very very minor patina. The door panels are great and even the silver paint on the vents is in great condition. The trunk is excellent with tools and both a collapsablespare and a full size spare.
Mechanical:The engine runs quiet and smooth, theexhaustis solid, it steers well and stops well, there is no smoke and no strange noises or ticks. There are no warning lights on. The brakes are great and I do not see any leaks. I took the car on a four hundredmile road trip in the fall and it performed beautifully. The tires have good tread and all gauges work properly, even the battery is Volvo. At some point in its life the engine was replacedby a Volvo repair shop at a cost 6200.00 when the original engine had a cam shaft failure.
History:I bought this Volvo from the original owner, she was in her late 80's and was no longer driving. The Volvo was bought new on her husbands retirement and she tells me it has never spent even one night parked outside. Even on vacation they would only stay at hotels with covered parking. If it rained he wiped it down as soon as he parked it. This car has led a charmed life, evident at any point that you examine it. This is not a restored car it is a car that has been well serviced by Volvo experts and maintained to a very high standard by a fussy and loving owner.
Reason for selling:I bought to add to my existing car collection. This is the third 262C I have owned, I upgrade the qualityof the car with each purchase untilI was lucky enough to come acrossthis one. Now I'm in the process of a life style change that does not have room for multiple cars, so sadly I am startingto break down the collection.Because of the age of the car I can not promise the odometer reading is accurate, there is no damage declaration on the title and it is regular status. This car has a British Columbia title in my name.
Over all:Hand built in Italy between 1978 and 1981 total production was limited to 6622 cars, in 1979 production was only 2120giving it true exclusivity.A vastly upgraded car with glove-soft pleated leather covering nearly every surface, including the anatomically designed seats, door panels, grab handles as well as recessed sun visors and headliner. The door panels are accented with genuine elm veneer and deep pile carpeting. Befitting the cars' premium status, the only options were a limited-slip differential and a choice of stereos.Priced new at 2000.000 more than a Cadillac Eldorado this car easily competed with an upper end Mercedes. This is the best 262C I have ever seen, when I saw it I had to have it. It is a very desirable rare and stunning car. If you are in the market for an affordable classic that is increasing in value and does not need thousandsof dollars spent on it to bring it up to standards then this may be the right car for you.
Payment:I am offering this car with a starting bid at less than a third of what I paid for it, withno reserve, because I'm serious about selling it.
