Description for Volvo 240 1993
This wagon has been tried and tested over the last 20K miles during a 5 year period.
It has undergone a meticulous transformation from a forgotten sloppy and shaky garaged station car to a well performing wagon.
This beauty has been thoughtfully serviced by an ex-professional mechanic with factory, OEM and best replacement parts on the market when Volvo parts were no longer available.
Front end: Features new struts, control arm bushings, rack and pinion, rotors and brakes with reconditioned calipers as well as replaced and repacked bearings. This pretty and complete set of parts enables this wagon to perform shake free and steer true at any speed without earning a license suspension.
Rear end: Has been overhauled with repacked new bearings, shocks, torque rod bushing and 25mm spacers to accommodate the 16” rims without any rubbing. Calipers, brakes pads and rotors done less than a year ago.
Under the hood: Open it to anice and clean normally aspirated red block 4 cylinder engine mated to a strong 4 speed automatic with overdrive transmission that performs like a 240 should. Engine and transmission sit on top of new Volvo mounts and the rear differential is propelled by new drive axle joints, center support bearing and mount. Recent factory tune-up parts with cleaned out throttle body. Flushing transmission in the next two weeks with new gasket and filter.
In the cabin:Seats are excellent for their age. Driver’s seat shows some seam stitch stretching, but is holding up nicely. Seats are firm. Leather-wrappedsteering wheel feels nice. Dash has one small crack at the usual place 1 inch long. Stereo system has been reconditioned with new Polk Audio front speakers and a very well-functioning TAPE DECK. I challenge someone to find a Volvo 240 that has a functional tape drive. Sounds very nice. Dig out your tape collection!
Original Volvo all-weather floor mats. Comes equipped with factory power windows, locks, mirrors and everything works.
3rd seat with seat belts. This is a 7 seater! A very comfortable armrest and driver’s seat extender to accommodate a 6” plus driver with great leg room. I am 6”4 and like my legs unfolded. Extenders can be easily removed if asked.
A/C sports fully functioningr134asystem. Cools the cabin very nicely with the 4 speed fan. Measured 45 degrees coming out of the vents.
Some aging brittle plastic has already been replaced. Some still there.
From the outside: Prior owner had garage kept this beauty, but my projects do not allow me to do so. Paint is good considering age also considering it has never been repainted. Has some minor dings, scratches and start of clear coat peel in a couple of places. Overall, better than average condition. Upgraded with window deflectors.
Other notable service and improvements includes: New windshield (original one was pitted and had a pebble induced crack. New gas tank with filters. Cat-back exhaust. Volvo factory Class III tow hitch with wiring for trailer lights.
New set of 4 matching 16 inch Hydra alloy rim with new all season high performanceContinentalDWS tires. Another set of 4 matching General Altimax Arctic winter tires mounted on 15 inch factory steelies. 4 hubcaps included. Both sets balancedand suspension aligned.
There is no such thing as zero rust in New England. With that said, the only rust that I am concerned about is:
1. A few extra-small spots beginning on top of right quarter panel peeking through peeled clearcoat and paint.
2. Bottom right rocker panel weld point about 1” wide.
3. Rear end has surface rust on suspension hardware that can be cleaned and treated. If I am keeping the car, that would be my next mini-project.
All can be easily treated and a complete pain job would make this car golden.
It needs nothing mechanically and is TURN KEY. Would feel great to drive it across the continent.
5 year project was time well spent on this spare third car. Always well maintained to be reliable and every issue resolved with utmostcare.
Very clean under the hood in the trunk and undercarriage. No engine, ABS, SRS or other warning lights on dash.
Clean clear title with original mileage. No accident history, no smoking or pets in this car.
This is a 240 with a lot of hours spent to recondition and is not the $1000 piece of junk someone wants towed from their driveway. Come check it out in South-eastern Connecticut.
Happy bidding and thanks for looking.
