I bought this 1950 Willys M38A army jeep for my personal collection back in 2010 from the local VFW after they contacted me knowing I collected classic trucks etc and really like survivor original stuff. It hadn't been running in a while at that time and was stored inside. I brought it home and had my local mechanic go through the jeep for me so I could use it locally in parades and generally have fun with it driving it between town and my home etc. I had the jeep converted to a 12 volt system, nstalled a new amp guage, new temp guage, new alternator, ew bulbs, il pressure guage, nd had a new exhaust installed. I had a tune up done etc and It fired right up and has been running great since. Later I had a rear axel replaced, ew bearings and hub seals done.
This jeep is one I will really miss as it always starts right up and has never given me any trouble. It rides down the road very nice as the video shows. I had it up to 55 mph area but I always comfortably drove it 45 mph here in the country. The 3 speed transmission shifts great in all of the gears and smooth. The steering was tight in my opinion, ot bad when moving but at a stand still it is difficult to turn the wheels. I had the 4x4 left on the in setting and right lever engages and dissengages it. The tires are older and show wear but servicable in my opinion. The four by four works great. This willys M38 doesnt over heat and the 4 cyl engine runs great with no smoke, nocks, r misses and has plenty of power.
Cosmetically this jeep looks great and turns lots of heads. This The body looks nice and is a very nice SURVIVOR! with no rust issues I found. There where some common for the age cosmetic blemishes here and there (dings, cratches, tc) nothing too crazy or overly noticable in my opinion. I pictured and videod any spot I saw. Notice the rare license plate toppers that go with the sale of this jeep! The windshield has a crack in it ( easy to fix). The underside looks good with normal road wear. Notice the cool black light tail lights. The seats are older cloth and the driver side seat had a tear on it (pictured) the cloth looks servicable for everyday use but would have to be redone for show quality etc. This willys jeep comes with a up to date clean Iowa title ready for you to register that matches the plate number on the dash.
This is a very clean jeep for the age but not a show quality M38 A. It is definitly something you can feel proud driving everyday here and there . Enjoy it the way it is while you take it to the next level if you choose. I do not want to overcall it or undercall it, et the video, ics, nd description tell the story.
As everyones idea is different on what a classic daily driver should be, recommend you come to inspect the jeep or hire ebay to do a independant inspection for you before placing a bid. I require a 500 dollar non refundable deposit within 24 hours of auction end. If I do not get the deposit within the time frame or before you come for the jeep, will assume you are a dreamer or a scammer and not serious about buying it. I can help recommend shippers I have used in the past who have been very reasonaable. I do not claim to be a expert on military vehicles so if you have any questions at all, lease call and I will do my best to answer them. 563 568 5111 or 563 568 1182. thanks and have fun bidding on this very fun driving 1950 willys M38A army jeep!
