Description for Willys Custom 1953
I have owned this jeep for about a year. I have a clean and clear tile in my hands. It is in overall great shape and starts and runs great. Also included is a repair manual and a few boxes of miscellaneous parts. I purchased this jeep with the intent to restore and use as a UTV on my land in Michigan. However at 6'3 220 it's a little too small for me and I have since picked a Series 3 Land Rover for that purpose. Please read below for detailed info. Jeep looks great and get's a ton of compliments. The tub on the jeep is custom made from ~ 1/8" steel. The dash, hood, etc is original. I sanded the body down to remove all surface rust, coated it with por 15, and then sprayed on Liner Xtreeme Olive Drab Bed Liner. This body should outlast all of us. Also new tail lights and all ignition wiring.
Mechanically the previous owner said the engine was rebuilt but I have no receipts or proof. The engine does start very easily and runs very clean. All mechanical components appear original and it is still setup to run on 6 volts. The battery is newer from tractor supply. The transmission and 4x4 work great. The brakes do go soft and I would either rebuilt the master brake cylinder (kit is about $25) or better yet swap with a dual reservoir master brake cylinder.
Items that require attention:
Currently has no windshield glass
Gas tank needs to be mounted
Purchased new windshield latches on ebay for about $30 but lost one. Will keep looking.
Feels a little loose over 35mph. Not sure if it's normal but people have claimed to drive 55mph on these so I assume something is worn out.
Ignition wiring has all been replaced but the wiring for the headlights, tail lights, gauges is not started
Tires are weathered
