Description

Hello,
I'm selling the above '62 Bel Air "Black Widow" hot rod. Imagine this car with fogs, oof rack and surf board on the roof. Great runner at a great price.
Update: We used a new Meguier's micro polishing compound and the paint came up quite nicely. It's silky and glossy. We put a coat of Meguuier's carnuba wax on by hand afterwards for the new owner.Still has some chips and scratches but looks very presentable and does not need paintwork. I will take new pictures later today along with a video of the car in motion.
I bought this car a few months ago because it's very cool, ounds great and runs great. The 350 small block and 350 trans were both rebuilt by the previous owner (whom I know) and there has been less than 8000 miles since this was done in 2007. It gets decent fuel economy even with it's 4 barrel Edelbrock / Holley intake. The motor makes excellent oil pressure and compression is even and very good in all cylinders. It starts right up always. I would drive this car cross country without hesitation.
I planned to repaint it back to the original metallic blue. But I've since found an early Porsche I'd rather restore.
Anyway, he black paint is not coming off anywhere but it is by no means a show car finish. It has light scratches, ight orange peel in areas, ome stone chips and some dings. It turns a lot of heads and is actually quite nice and very cool but because this is ebay, must be critical; it does not have a show quality finish but it's a very nice driver.I believe this is the only repaint. It's a solid 53 year old Chevrolet with excellent build quality and without rust underneath. It is what we call "a runner". It goes very well. The Pennsylvania title is clean.
It had one owner until about 10 years ago. I have the original owner's manual with his name and Pa address. It also has another booklet that came with the car new in 1962. Everything works but the air conditioning was removed. It would need a compressor added for air conditioning. The blower fan and other controls work. Lights, ignals, arning lights, ipers park as they should, riginal keys and locks all work and very cleanly. The headliner is beautiful. It passed PA inspection without issue. It is very solid without creaks when you enter a steep parking lot and so forth. No rattles. The windows wind up nicely. The brakes are good and straight even having been used so little in the last 4 years. The motor fires right up.The man that I bought the Black Widow from, ought it from the original owner and turned it into the hot rod you see. It was a 6 cylinder automatic originally and metallic blue. The original motor was not saved. This car is very nice and could be much nicer with a little effort.
The strong 350 fitted has a performance cam and has that low lumpy idle that i love. It runs very well (read: fast) and has a shift kit, he transmission shifts perfectly. It does not run hot ever even with its original radiator intended for a 6 cyl. The brakes work well, he lines and master were replaced. It does not have power brakes (there's no booster) but this is very inexpensive to add.
I have enjoyed this car very much in the past 2 months and hope it finds someone with the time and inclination to get it to show condition. It would not take much effort to make it very nice.
It has current PA inspection and runs and drives great, t has the original steering linkage and suspension bushings and wheel cylinders and drives and brakesstraight. It does not have any rattles and feels very solid.
I will be happy to get complete photos underneath to illustrate that the car is solid, ypical areas that are usually rusty are solid i.e.; rear body to chassis mounting, loors, ocker sections, ower doors are all solid.
I have only owned this Bel Air for a few months but have looked very closely at the underside having considerable knowledge and expertise and can say it is a solid car and great candidate to take to the next level. It really is a great runner.I'm happy to answer any questions you have and thank you for looking. -Matthew Mariani
