This '57 Chevy is a starting, topping, unning, riving hot rod. With a 350 and a Muncie 4 speed it's really quick and fun to drive. It's not a restored car but it is a survivor that can be driven as-is but it is also a good candidate for minor or major restoration since it is complete, traight, ot rusted out, nd with no sign of an accident. I say this as a person who has done several driver-quality restorations and has worked as a professional high-end car restorer.This is not one of thoseeBay cars where the owner has painted everything with black spray paint, ver the dust and rust, o make everything look fresh for thepictures. The car has nothing to hide. I am a fan of old parts on old cars so I haven't raided the catalogs to replace all the shiny parts...this car has all 1957 trim, mblems, umpers, oor handles, nterior handles, tc. The chrome and stainless isn't top show quality but it's the real deal.

Some details about the car that may not be apparent inthe pictures:
OUTSIDE:-good body panels with no welded-in repairs and minimal filler-intact wheel wells-rockers are not rusted (surprising, o maybe someone replaced them). The middle of the passenger side rocker was pushed in somehow. The indent was filled with fiberglass reinforced filler and is solid as a rock.-the car is in primer. This is real primer, lat black. It gives the car an authentic vintage vibe but you can't rub your hand over it and feel a silky smooth finish.I wanted to protect the body and make the car look street-tough, ut not prep it for paint.-all lights work but the turn signals only work sometimes-wipers work but they struggle-the doors, runk, nd hood all open, lose, nd lock properly-some of the chrome has been touched up with "chrome" paint but as you can see in the pictures, t blends quite well with old chrome.
UNDERNEATH:-rear air shocks-recent brake linesincluding soft lines-the floors and trunk floor are solid. The front floors and the trunk were patched with sheet metal. There are no holes or soft spots.-I think the rear end has 3:11 gears-the steering is good but is quite heavy. Steering box can be adjusted but I've been driving it as-is.-drum brakes that work properly-the tires are almost brand new-new fluids: oil, oolant, ransmission, ifferential-all zirc fittings greased-cherry bomb mufflers...nice sound but not really loud...no leaks-the frame and the underside components only have surface rust. The body mounts are good but the "outriggers" that go out to theedge of the car are rusted.
UNDER THE HOOD:-the followingitems under the hood are new or recent:aprofessionally rebuilt Quadrajet carb, attery, eramic-coatedchrome headers, tarter, lternator, lugs and wires, an, oses, elt, otor and cap-strong 350. I don't know the year but it is pre-1986.-electronic ignition-the engine starts right up and shuts right down
INTERIOR:-vintage Superior Products "The 500" steering wheel-vintage Mr. Gasket shifter with real pool cue ball shift knob-speedometer works-gas gauge works but is not accurate...bad sender, 'll bet-factory temperature gauge is not connected-a prior owner installed gauges inthe dash where the radio was. The temp and oil pressure gauges work. The ammeter is not hooked up. Another full set ofSunpro gauges comeswith the car in case any of the extra gauges goes out or the ammeterdoesn't work.-a JVC radio/CD is included...I never installed it-no heater. The heater system was removed to make way for an electric heater or a heat/AC system (from SouthernRods...very good and inexpensive). I don't have the old heater rig.-all windows work correctly except the driver rear. It will go up and down with the crank but has to be guided up with your hands (came out of it's track?)-the windshield has threedelamination spots at the bottom edge, ach about 4 inches across. You don't see them when you drive and you can see in the pictures that they aren't all that obvious. The rear side windows have scratches on them from rubbing something inside the door-the inside bottom of the doors and trunk lid were patched with fiberglass/POR15 (not the exterior metal).-the horn button is mounted on the dash, o the left of the steering wheel-the interior has a nice fresh look and reminds me of all the cool hot rods on the Navy base where I lived as a kid.
The fine print:I've been driving the car all around town and on our local parkway but I haven't been on any highway trips. I am not selling this as a road trip car. It may be able to handle that just fine but I haven't used it that way.The buyer should have this car checked out by their own mechanic to be assured of it's safety and reliability. I would notrecommend driving it home because I can't make any promises on how it will do.It's an old car andunforeseenissues could arise at any time. It is not a '57 body sitting on a custom framewith a Corvette motor and all that. This is an unrestored car from 1957. The car is sold as-is with no warranty so please ask questions before bidding.
