From the very beginning 1953/54, orvettes were always exciting to the American buyers. Over the years the design of the Corvettes changed and improved and was truly the motivating part about the cars. In 1955 all Corvette had V8s but the engine design remained very antiquated until 1990. Meanwhile, fter 1955 the Europeans were coming up with very significant and important engineering/design improvements and the Corvettes remained as push rods/yesterday's design.

Yes it is true that even though the basic designs of the American Corvette engines were somewhat antiquated they still had plenty of power and plenty of respect here in the United States. When it came to the European market the Corvettes were not well received because of the engine design element.

Eventually GM/Chevrolet decided to tell the engine design department to make something that would get the respect that was needed in Europe. Thus was born the 1990 ZR-1 that was introduced at the 1989 Geneva Auto Show and the attitude in European auto community was greatly changed. The ZR-1 became known as the King of the Hill, hich is what this Super Vette was commonly called when the program was barely more then a rumor. Interestingly enough GM decided to call this fabulous car by a "letter" designation - "ZR-1" .

At the time of it's introduction in 1990 the ZR-1 was considered to be one of the fastest sports cars in the world with superior handling and braking and yet it was highly civilized. In 1990 the bodywork widens at the leading edge of the door with the backend being three inches broader, iving it a very muscular look for 1990.

If you have ever looked at the ZR-1 engine, ou are probably looking at one of the most beautifully designed engines that you will ever see with double overhead cam, our valves per cylinder, es we said four valves per cylinders. It changes the valve breathing from a normal Corvette engine of sixteen valves to thirty-two valves (more air - more power). The overhead cam that we were talking about lets the engine be more muscular.

When it comes to car collecting, he ZR-1's are a long way from getting their due respect. This means that currently ZR-1's are just at the beginning of their appreciation and value curve and this is probably the best time ever that will exist to acquire the highly collectible ZR-1. Of the Ferrari that you see today selling for many multiple million dollars were only $20,000 back in the early 1980s.

Certainly the ZR-1 with such marvelous engineering that received so much respect when it was first introduced will in the future receive that same type of respect measured in dollars in the future by collectors.

The private seller tells us this car is extremely well documented and that the original owner kept most of the maintenance records and it is a very well documented vehicle. The private seller has owned this car for 15 years.
The 1990 Corvette features the LT5 V8 engine andmanual 6-speed transmission.

However the original tires and wheels will also go with the car. These original tires and wheels are wrapped up in plastic and the current owner has never opened the plastic in the 15 years that he has owned the car.The original "Owner's Package" aka "the Pizza Box" as pictured.
The seller tells us that the original owner installed an upgraded after market exhaust.
The suspension is adjustable to three different levels.
