Description
1952 Chevrolet "Tin Woodie" Styleline Deluxe Station WagonThis is the last Chevrolet model/year to have the real wood interior, single centered taillight, as well as the "divided" two-piece windshield. The last of the true "Tin Woodies".While some people mistakenly refer to the 53-newer Wagons as being Tin Woodies, they aren't. 1952 is the LAST year for the wooden interior panels. In 1953-on Station Wagons they started the much more modern cloth/vinyl interior era. This is a very cool 73 year old Station Wagon with an interesting past. Originally discovered at a Girls School in Arizona in 1985 by a well known collector out of Nevada. Very solid overall condition. While not a "Show Car", it presents well for having been repainted nearly 30 years ago.The engine was also upgraded at that time with a rebuilt 235cu in 6cyl. engine along with a refreshed interior(dash is still original paint). Converted to 12 volt at that time as well. Actual mileage on the Wagon is unknown (odometer not working but speedometer does) but according to previous owner he stated that he doubts he put even 5000 miles on the car in the entire time he owned it. I've driven it approximately 200 miles since I purchased it in March of 2024.Yes, I'm aware it has a 51 grill and I'm not sure why. I've heard a bunch of theories as to how this happened but unfortunately I have no way of knowing. It's been titled as a 52 at least as far back as 1985 which is as far back as the paper trail for me goes. It also has 52 moldings on the front fenders. And the "kicker" for me is that in 51 the "emblem" on the rear tailgate was a "two hole" mounted Chevrolet badge. In 52 they changed to the three hole Chevrolet "script" version, which this Wagon has.Gets lots of looks, smiles, and "thumbs up" wherever it goes.Perfect Wagon to rebrand to represent your Bar, Restaurant, Hotel, Craft Brewery, Winery, Flower Shop, Nursery, Auto Repair Shop, Surf Shop, Antique Store, the list is seemingly endless. The current logo(which has been on there just under 20 years) is simply a sticker which, with a little heat, can easily be removed to allow room for rebranding.I found one small area of rust in the rear corner of the drivers side floor that was sympathetically "patched" (likely at the same time it was repainted in 1997) but other than that the chassis and underside just has that dry, dusty, solid look of a well cared for southwest car.None of the chrome or the "brightwork" has ever been redone and still looks good. I've never attempted to polish this Wagon in any way, choosing instead to keep with its "put away in safe storage in 1965 and only recently discovered" look. Cool early to mid 60's Chevy roof rack as well. Disclaimer: One thing also worth noting is that while the Michelin radials currently on the Wagon look basically brand new (95% tread remaining and no sidewall cracking), they are date coded 1997 (likely replaced at the time of the refresh) so I would not recommend driving on them. The times I've driven it have been on local roads and never on a high speed freeway. I have been told that it's not wise to drive on tires that are over 10 years old. If you choose to, you do so at your own risk. For more details about the Wagon's interesting history, go here: https://tinwoodie52.com/Asking $23,950 OBO Please feel free to make an offer.
