Description for Jeep CJ 1981
This is an Original 1981 1st year Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler which came out factory with a 258- 6cyl and a 5 speed transmission and was silver/grey with the Scrambler striping. Now it has a 350 Chevy V8 and a 400 turbo hydramatic transmission and a Jeepster Commando Transfer Case. I built an engine for it in 1993 for the person who I sold it to. Unfortunately that engine was stolen years later by the guys mechanic and the junk in it now was his. At a time later the thief shot himself for the stealing and cheating people in his garage. Jump forward to 2004 and I bought it back not knowing about the engine swap. It's an old 350 mud buggy engine and won't stay running. I drove it home to where it sets and it was only started once after. The body tub should be replaced as he put the aluminum on it to cover the rust. The frame has a couple of spots that need to be fixed. I don't know anything about the engine except it turns over by hand at the flywheel with a screwdriver. The 400 transmission was rebuilt with a shift kit when it was installed. The 4 wheel drive and everything worked years ago but it's been sitting for 20+ years. The seats are new and weren't used but a few times and the tires were new but ran probably a dozen times before I got it back. They have been kept aired up and I don't see any dry cracks. There's 40 pictures so view them and ask any questions. It will need to be restored and completely gone through brakes and all. My brother sold his 1984 Scrambler last year (original) for $14000.00 needing doors and everything. I'm not going that far. An immediate non refundable deposit of $500.00 is required upon a deal being made. Ask any questions first.
