Description

I'm a 20-year Jeep CJ enthusiast / collector and have been hunting down low-mileage / mostly original CJs for the past two decades. I've owned hundreds of CJs throughout the years and have dug up some of the finest survivors from all across the country. This CJ5 Renegade is right there at the top of the list! Finished in color code "OM" (Dark Brown Metallic), this Jeep will turn heads anywhere you take it.

Within the past year, I purchased this CJ5 from the daughter of the original owner. The original owner, Herbert, lovingly cared for this Jeepsince newas it was his prized possession. Herb was a Delta airline pilot and occasionally drove the Jeep to work. To this day remains the Delta parking sticker on the front windshield. Per Herb's daughter, this Jeep was obsessively maintained. Oil changes performed by Herb every 2,000 miles, custom made floor mats on top of the original carpet because he didn't want the carpet to get dirty. A New Old Stock (NOS) soft top that Herb purchased as a spare the day he bought the CJ5 was installed on this Jeep months prior to his passing. The soft top is 9.5+/10 condition.

This CJ5 still retains its original paint and decals. The paint is a solid 9/10 for a 45-year-old Jeep. Same with the decals. Almost everything is original on this nicely optioned Renegade. Optional original equipment items special ordered for this Jeep include the tachometer, clock and tilt steering. This Renegade was purchased with all the bells and whistles available at the time. All gauges work as they should.

Floorboards are outstanding. This Jeep was garaged and pampered since new. I had this Jeep parked in my garage for many months and it's hard to believe, but the garage epoxy floor was bone dry. This is about the only Jeep I cannot find a drop of oil leaking anywhere.

Powering this CJ5 is the original 258 6-cylinder motor, a 4-speed manual shift transmission, and a Dana 300 transfer case. This is truly one of the best driving CJs I have ever been in. I've had the Jeep past 70 mph with no wandering, smooth shifts, etc. Truly, this Jeep can be driven anywhere with a very high level of confidence in reliability.

Included with the Jeep is the voided original title (Jeep is currently titled in my name, but I had the MVD void the original title so I could keep it for historical value), service records, and all paperwork that was provided to me when I purchased the Jeep.

You cannot build a CJ to this caliber anywhere near my asking price. Respectful and appropriate offers will be considered. This is a premium Jeep and the asking price is indicative of its quality/originality.

Full disclaimer of known flaws:(1)As stated, the paint is 100% original except for the tips of the front fenders. Herb didn't like the few rock chips it had, so he had the very front tips of the fenders blended out. It is so minimal and barely noticeable that I didn't want to say anything about it, but I believe in full disclosure. (2)The driver side dash speaker was replaced at some point and when the new one was installed, the dash speaker studs must have been over tightened and the well broke. If you look closely at the dash, the driver speaker has a couple screws holding the speaker. Not a big deal and again barely noticeable, but I don't want you to overlook this. (3)Seats are overall fantastic, but there are a couple small areas the fabric is splitting at the seams. The seats are very presentable as-is, but there are a couple of splits. (4)Tires are in good condition, but I have not verified the date codes. I believe they are somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 years old, so you may want to replace them sooner than later.(5)The air conditioner blows, but not that cold. It'll need servicing.(6)Am I missing something?? Possibly, but I've been as thorough as possible.

Thanks for looking. I'm happy to FaceTime video any potential interested parties. You're more than welcome to also come look at the Jeep in person or hire a 3rd party inspection company to evaluate the Jeep for you. If you live across the country, I can provide a shipping contact for you.

Lastly, payment forms accepted are cash, cashiers check, money order. The vehicle and the title will not be released until funds are verified and cleared. The Jeep is expected to be picked up within 3 weeks of purchase. It'll continue to be stored inside my garage until transportation logistics are finalized.
