Description

1969 Mercury Cyclone Cale Yarborough Tribute - 428 c.i. with automatic

Vehicle Details

1969 Mercury Cyclone Cale Yarborough tribute, currently equipped with 428 c.i. and automatic transmission. Was originally a poly lime green factory 351 GT car with 9 inch rear but there was no motor in it when purchased and bought the 428 from a friend who removed it from a 1966 Thunderbird. Motor was put in the car a couple years back and drove it a couple summers and toward the end of last season started developing a tick to the motor (a couple motor guys I had listen to it think it’s either a lifter or wrist pin issue). Until then was an excellent running, sounding and driving vehicle. I do not have the time or proper facility or access to equipment/tools required at the moment to address what it needs which is why l'm putting it available for sale right now. It is also available for sale locally and will end the auction here if I sell it elsewhere.

One of those deals where if I sell it great, if not I have no problem hanging onto it. Have about $35,000 invested in the car and not expecting to get my money back but if I get an offer I believe is fair will let it go. Located in the Syracuse, New York area and not looking for trades, have all transferable paperwork registered in my name. But as mentioned if I don't get the right offer it will just stay in storage for as long as takes when I'm able to get back to it. The car still fires up with the flick of a key like always but stopped driving it once I heard the tick to avoid making issue worse. As it sits now I would rate it right a nice driver quality car and everything is there to make it an easy candidate to bring back closer to show quality.

This car is always the center of attention at any car show or cruise-in. Was painted the Yarborough color scheme about 20 years ago and is showing its wear here and there but still looks awesome. Both rear lower quarters have had some work done and passenger side did an okay job while driver side still looks presentable but the original lines are a little off and I bought a good used quarter that I was going to eventually have patched in and blended with the Wimbledon White, and the quarter will be sold with the car in case you wanted to do the same or have the car repainted to show quality at some point. But as mentioned this is a nice daily driver as-is that draws more attention than most trophy-winners at shows.

As for the car, has a ton of brand new parts, and probably forgetting some and too many to list anyway:

Has NEW AMD rear bumper, gas tank and gas lines, Cooper Cobra 15 inch radials and American Racing mag wheels, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and Edelbrock 650 carb, 2 1/2" ceramic coated Hooker headers, new exhaust pipes and Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers, high-torque starter, new master cylinder, brake hoses and lines and wheel cylinders, new battery, hoses, rebuilt alternator, fresh tuneup, new Champion aluminum radiator. Front seats recovered with new seat foam (rear seat in nice original condition), new carpet (also have a new headliner and roof rail seals haven't installed yet as was still doing little things like that when I had the time as I drove it).

All the rest of the oem trim and interior on the car is in nice to excellent used condition. I also have an original Eliminator hood scoop was going to finish and install on the car as well, and have all the mounting hardware for it that will go with the car as well. Have some other misc parts and hardware that were extra or haven't had time to install yet like the original headrests and reproduction trunk mat pictured. Trunk floor and undercarriage are all solid as well.

This car is all there and for someone that has the time and whatever work motor may need to correct engine noise would make this one awesome and rare street machine (or if you have another motor sitting around you were looking for something to put into can do that and drive it immediately and fix the 428 at your leisure, and this is also a perfect and easy candidate to bring back to show quality at some point. Any other questions feel free to message me.
