Up for auction is a 1978 Y88 Gold Special Edition Trans AM. This is the real deal, not a clone. Car underwent a mechanical and cosmetic restoration 5 years ago that included new Solar Gold paint and decals, all new Camel Tan Lombardy cloth interior, rebuild of the numbers matching Pontiac 400 engine including a W72 cam shaft, a refresh of the numbers matching TH-350 automatic transmission, an upgrade to the heavy duty cooling system and a new dual exhaust system from the manifolds back. The opportunity was also taken to swap out the standard 2.56 posi-traction rear differential with a rebuilt 3.42 posi-traction rear end. Other options include gold tinted Fischer t-tops, air conditioning, delaywipers, tilt steering column,power front disc brakes, power trunk release,power windows andcruise control.This car is documented by Pontiac Historicsociety(PHS).
