1926 Rolls-Royce Phantom I Shooting Brake

Dallas Motorsports presents this Rare 1926 Rolls Royce Phantom I Shooting Brake!
The moniker "shooting-brake" was applied to custom-built luxury estate cars altered for use by hunters and other avid sportsmen. Although the name is spelled “brake” it refers to the break the hunters would take in the afternoon for tea time. For that reason, the luxurious second row seating features a place to rest your feet and a tray for tea and snacks.

This particular “shooting brake” started out as one of only 3,512 Rolls Royce Phantom I built between 1925 and 1931. Prior to the war, the back half of the metal body was removed and replace with a hand crafted wooden cab made of mixture of mahogany and oak by a coach-builder located in Sussex, England.

Like many large vehicles during the war, this car was commandeered by the government and used to transport army officials. After the war, the car was sold to an english gentleman that relocated to the US in the early 50’s. Starting out in San Francisco, the car was the families only vehicle and played an important role for many years. The same family owned the car for over 50 years before the car was eventually sold to Rolls Royce collector.

The car was relocated to Switzerland where it was used once again as an estate car. The “shooting brake” has recently been relocated to the US and is now fulfilling its estate car duties at a large ranch in Texas.
