**NOT PARTING OUT - AD IS FOR WHOLE VEHICLE AS IS, AS PICTURED**

Up for sale here for parts or restoration is a 1966 Volkswagen Beetle that unfortunately succumbed to an engine fire 5/28/25.

Engine is a 1968 1500 cc engine that is now a 1641 cc according to receipts found when we purchased it.

Immediately after the fire, it was towed home, fuel tank drained, carpets were all pulled up ( and are still pulled back ) and all the fire department water vacuumed out, along with most of the chunks of glass. The F/D broke the back window, and left side rear pop-out window glass, and also cut the positive cable in 2 places so it will be too short for a repair.

The deck lid is the worst of all of it. That is scrap, unless you have Superman body skills. Everything else is easily restorable with enough patience, time, and money.

Was pushed into the garage where it sits now and will sit until sold. Never saw rain with the broken glass. Floor and carpet are all dry now.

All four tires have less than 300 miles on them, were computer-spin-balanced, along with brand new entire tie rod assemblies (both sides of course), including the adjustment collars, and the steering damper. Had it all aligned, got a MA inspection sticker (VERY strict here) and 8 days or so later the fire happened.

Windshield wiper arms and blades are new, and the entire wiper transmission / linkage assembly was restored with new bushings and E clips.

Both door handles and the ignition switch are brand new and keyed alike. Modern stereo deck with recent front speakers. The rear speakers are presumably junk from fire/water damage.

Engine block is unscathed as far as I can see, and I am able to turn the crank by hand. Damage was limited to all the bolt-on accessories (intake manifolds, carburetors [was dual carb], alternator, fuel pump, etc.).

Swing axles have new o-rings, seals, and gaskets at the drum end. The upper boots (transmission end) were in need of replacement.

Brakes have been done all the way around with new hoses.

Brand new front wheel bearings with Amsoil grease, done last year.

Re-routed the fuel tank vent so there was no fuel smell in the car with the tank full.

Brand new speedometer cable and the bearing grease cap that drives it, along with the E-clip.

Has all the important gauges mounted nicely in the dash beside the speedometer for easy viewing - oil pressure, volt meter, and a large tachometer.

The wiring for the tail lights is still intact.

Both the engine and transaxle have top shelf Amsoil Signature Series fluids -

Z-Rod 20W-50 in the engine, and Severe Gear 75W-110 in transaxle.

This was a really nice condition, mostly rust free car. The undercarriage is SOLID with no rust. Rot was limited to some small areas on the fenders, running boards, and the front of the cowl area under the trunk lid. Seats all survived and are in great shape. Will need a good scrubbing inside and out to get that fire extinguisher film off of everything.

Did a LOT of work to it to make it as close to perfect as I could. I'm sure there's more I forgot to list.

Haven't even owned this a year. We suspect a sudden fuel leak, since all the wiring had been gone through in the engine compartment, protected, and secured in every way possible. The braided cloth over the fuel lines hides age and damage! And a plastic filter in the engine bay - DUMB!! Lesson learned.

I don't have the time nor the patience to restore. We already bought another and would like the space back. My MASSIVE loss is your gain.

Shipping and transport will be your responsibility. Cannot deliver due to truck being down (when it rains it pours!). Will work with your shipper, HOWEVER, I have a very LIMITED schedule due to work. Best days would be Sunday or Monday AFTER 1 PM. I have a very, very, VERY small half hour window from Tuesday through Saturday after 1 PM. *BE ADVISED!*

Vehicle WILL NOT leave here unless payment is made by driver or owner, or prior to driver pickup.

Thanks for looking & have a good one!
