Description for Austin Healey Other 1974
Up for auction ismy friends 1974 Jensen Healey. The carjust had roughly $1900 spent on her last week.I will make every effort to detail everything about the car so all interested will be fully informed prior to bidding. The Jensen Healey (JH) was produced between 1972 and 1976. With a total production run of 10,453 of which 7,709 came state side. Compare that to the 56,564 Triumph TR6's produced over that same five year run and you get an idea of the scarcity of these cars. The JH featured superior creature comforts compared to its sparsely trimmed TR6 or MGB British competitors. Interiors are more on par with the Italian Spiders of the day. Many consider the JH more akin to the E-Type Jag roadsters than these others.Of course the most important advantage the JH holds over all its British or Italian roadster competitors is in performance and horsepower. Built around the legendary high revving Lotus 907 2.0 liter double overhead cam 45' slant four cylinder the JH drivetrain was a significant departure from the torque though rather dated overhead valve units in the other Brits. In fact even with the US emissions choked motors the JH still pumped out 140 hp compared to the rather paltry 105 of the TR6 and a puny 79 of the MGB. At just over 2600 pound this is a serious performance car, n fact JH took home SCCA championships in 1973 and 1974. Much work was just completed last week. Last week the car received a tune up, il change, arburetors adjusted, ew battery installed, ew exhaust system installed, ll new matching radial tires installed, as tank removed and cleaned, ew soft top installed, ew stereo installed, ew retractable antenna and new side chrome mirrors installed. I'm told that about 10k miles ago the transmission was rebuilt and a new clutch and pressure plate where installed at that time. The car starts up with no smoke and the transmission shifts very well with no noises from it or the rear end. The engine is tight with no leaks or drips under the car that I can find. Things of note are that the car pulls to the left a bit when the brakes are applied so it might be time for front pads ( peddle is firm and the hand brake does work ),needs a fuel sending unitto get the gas gauge working and while I'm not a mechanicI do hear a tapping / clicking from the engine. I'm not sure what it is but my guess would be that the car needs a valve adjustment or something else( again not a mechanic ). Overseas Bidders:Yes the auction is open to overseas bidders. The auction is open to overseas bidders and if you need to ship overseas try Schumacher Cargo Logisticsshipping for fast free quotes ( http://www.schumachercargo.com/ ). In Closing:The abovedescriptionis my observations and opinions and they very from person to person so ask all questions prior to bidding. If I have missed anything in the cars description it was not my intention so please ask for as much detail as you need to make an informed decision on the car prior to bidding / making an offer.Again, 'm selling the car for a friend. I'm not an expert and my opinion ofthe car may vary from yours so please look at the photos closely and if you need more information or the extra photosI have availableplease ask prior to bidding. I know how hard it is to purchase a car online so please ask any and all questions you have prior to bidding or if you can come see and drive the car for yourself ( I really encourage you to do so ) as I want the winning bidder to be satisfied with the car when it arrives. Due to the cars age and having no way to warranty the carI'm selling her "as is" and mileage exempt.A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours of auctions end.
