Description for Austin America 1968
You're bidding on a fun little car! It runs great and is ready to be driven. It fires right up and is ready to go. This car has been completely gone through. This is not some car that was just pulled out of barn after sitting for twenty years. It has a clear title and is currently registered. It is always parked inside and only driven in good weather. All of the trim and glass were removed so that whole car could be stripped down to bare metal. The bare metal was treated. primed. painted and clear coated. The underside of the car was painted with POR-15 to prevent corrosion. The underside of the bonnet. boot and boot lid have been painted with a rock guard undercoating. All of the trim. bumpers. headlight surrounds and grille have been powder coated glossy black. All new seals have been installed around the doors. hood. trunk and windows including new seals around the front and back windshields. A brand new windshield was put in at the same time. There is new carpet with a felt underlay. The original stereo has been replaced with a new Retro Sound head unit and MB Quart speakers. The entire engine. transmission and driveline have been removed. disassembled and gone through. The driveline and brakes have been completely rebuilt. The original 1 1/4 exhaust has been replaced with a Maniflow Freeflow header and all new 1 3/4 exhaust. The original 1 1/2 SU carb and intake manifold have been replaced with a new 1 3/4 HIF44 carb and alloy intake manifold. A new throttle cable and speedometer cable have been installed. The 25D distributor has been upgraded to electronic ignition so no more messing with the points and condenser. All of the hoses have been replaced with a new silicone set. The original SU fuel pump has been replaced with a modern pump. A Stebel nautilus air horn has been installed. It has a new battery and fuse box. The heater box has been pulled. cleaned out and reinstalled. The heater and all of it's controls work great. No problem defrosting and getting nice and hot in the winter. All of the lights including the dome light work. There are brand new headlight assemblies on both sides. The fluid has been drained. replaced and re pressurized in the hydrolastic suspension system. This car has the automatic transmission and it shifts nicely through all four gears and reverse. I have many extra parts as well that can go with the car if wanted including a complete spare transmission and extra glass for both doors. The only thing not functioning correctly is the fuel gauge. I tested the gauge and it works so the problem is at the sending unit. It will need to be pulled and inspected. The seats have some tears in the vinyl and could use recovering some day. This is a super fun car to drive. It gets a lot of attention everywhere it goes. I'm moving across the country for work so I regrettably have to sell some of my toys. Happy bidding!
