Description for BMW Other 1957
1957 BMW ISETTA - OFFERED AT $18750.00
FOR SALE: a 1957 red Isetta 300 four wheel coupe. This car runs and drives, shifts easily, has Pennsylvania antique plates and is priced below the Hagerty value guide average of $25,300.00.
This car was purchased by the second owner in or about 1960 and was last on the road and inspected in 1963. The car shows about 24000 miles on the odometer. It sat in dry storage until last fall when it was taken to a restoration house in Zelienople, called Hahn and Vorbach, to get running and driving again. The former owner spent $6400 on the car at the restoration house. He had the carb rebuilt, gas tank cleaned, new battery, new brake wheel cylinders, new brake shoes and new brake master cylinder installed with all receipts available. I purchased the car this past spring and I have installed five new radial tires and 5 new tubes. I have driven the car only about 5 miles and had it registered an antique car in Pennsylvania. This car comes with 6 wheels and tires- 5 new radial tires and the 6th wheel still wears the original spare tire.
This is a very interesting little car! It has the original canvas folding sunroof, original 2 stroke engine and drive train, original 4 speed manual transmission, original interior and takes up very little room in your garage. The front door opens out to the front like a refrigerator door. This model year has the sliding windows. This car was designed in Italy and the rights sold to BMW to build the cars in Germany. These "micro" car prices have shot up in recent years and the $18,750 that I am asking for the car is actually BELOW the Hagerty price guide price for a number 4 car- and this car is much better than a number 4 car, in my estimation. This car is not perfect but a very nice little driver antique car. Everyone likes to sit in it and have their photo taken in it. It prompts smiles on every person that looks at it. It weighs less than 800 pounds and is only about 7 feet long and 4.5 feet wide. It has a 3.5 gallon fuel tank and it starts right up with no smoke. It has the original seat material and headliner. I think the car was originally a two tone paint (red and light gray)but the car was repainted at some point and made a totallyred car. There is no rust on this car- the underside of this car is very clean. There is some flaking off of the paint on the underside of the car as you can see in the photos- probably from sitting so long on a concrete floor. All 4 tires were flat when I bought the car- the old tires can go with the car IF the new owner wants them. Also, there are a few boxes of spare parts that go with the car. Some of the rubber gaskets are showing their age, but the window seals still seem pliable and hold well. All of the lights and gauges work except the horn.
If you have ever wanted one of these little Isetta's, then come see it and I'll take you for a ride! I am asking $18750.00 for the car or best offer. I have just reduced the price to sell before harsh winter weather sets in.
Buyer is responsible for ALL shipping costs and arrangements. This car will not leave my garage until ALL payments clear my bank.
