Description for Cadillac DeVille 1971
Up for auction is my 1971 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. One look at this stunning automobile and it is easy to see that it has been extremely well maintained and cared for since it rolled out of the factory 43 years ago. This beautiful car has had one re-paint in the original color of "Duchess Gold" about five years ago using a high quality base coat clear coat over a rust free body. The paint is high gloss and exceeds any factory original lacquer of the period with only a minor nick in a few places that you really have to look hard to find. The photos don't do justice to the true rich gold tones in the finish of this Cadillac. The stainless trim is near perfect and while the front and rear bumpers have some slight age patina. they still shine bright. The vinyl roof. also in a matching gold color called "Maize" is in amazing original condition. Once you step inside the car you feel as though you have time warped back to a 1971 Cadillac dealership. The interior is factory original and about as close to perfect as one could hope for. The seats are covered in brocade cloth with leather accents in the matching "Maize" color and are unblemished showing little to no wear. The carpet is plush and clean and maintains it's rich gold color. the dash is immaculate with clear lenses and chrome accents that maintain their sharp finishes. The headliner and door panels are also like new. All the power windows. six way power seat and power door locks operate. All four cigarette lighters work and even the clock still works! All lights operate as they should. including the cornering lights. nbsp;and are bright and clear. The car is equipped with automatic climate control for the air conditioning and heating sytem but only works occasionally so I would have to list it as not functioning. A new compressor. rier and expansion valve were installed as well as being converted to r134A freon a year ago but an apparent glitch in the automatic control system is preventing it from working as it should. Anyone with experience in repairing these automatic systems would probably have it fixed in no time. but I do not have the knowledge to get it to work. The AM-FM Stereo radio with automatic signal seeking scan just recently quit working (even though it comes on occasionally). The radio itself is absolutely perfect in appearance with no pitting in the chrome buttons or knobs and has a clear dial lens. I have not replaced it as I wanted to keep the car original and have not been able to find another that looks as nice as the one in this vehicle. In the four years I have owned this Cadillac I have had it tuned up. oil and fluid changes done regularly. new master cylinder. new alternator. new belts and hoses. nbsp;replaced front brake pads and turned front rotors. repacked wheel bearings. drained transmission fluid and replaced with new fluid and filter. new front and rear shocks. replaced the upper control arm bushings and strut rod bushings along with wheel alignment. I also installed four new halogen headlights for better nightime visibility (I have all the receipts). The car is powered by it's original 472 V-8 which moves this heavy car with no hesitation. The car starts right up and runs smooth and powerful and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly. While driving down the road if you let go of the steering wheel the car will maintain a straight path and also will not pull when braking. In the four years I have owned this car I have had absolutely no problems with the engine and transmission and would not hesitate to drive it across the country. I have put 5. 00 miles on this car since I purchased it. mainly taking it to car shows. cruises and driving it in parades. This vehicle always wins a top place trophy in every car show it is entered. nd always gets honks and thumbs up of admiration whenever it is out. I have tried to be as honest as possible in describing this vehicle but please understand that this car is 43 years old and therefore what works today. might not work tomorrow (and sometimes what doesn't work today. might work tomorrow). It has been a true joy to own and drive this automobile but I have recently purchased another Cadillac and don't have the space to keep this one any longer so it must go to another home. My reserve price is way less than what I have invested in this fine automobile so my loss will be somebody's gain. This vehicle is being sold as is and where is. Buyer is responsible for transport. Cash or wire transfers are acceptable forms of payment. Vehicle will not be released for pick up or shipping until payment has been received in full. Please call 785-539-2189 (evenings) for additional information. Don't miss this rare opportunity to own a beautiful example of automotive history.
