1978 Corvette Indy 500 Pace Car - L-82 Project Car

This is a very original '78 Corvette Indy 500 Pace Car that needs restoration. Although it needs work, t's a great project. This is a dry desert car, old new in Phoenix and then brought to Albuquerque, M, here it is located now. The car racked up approximately 114,000 miles as a daily driver for a number of years. However, t was never in an accident and retains all its original paint and body panels. The paint is faded and lacquer checked from the desert sun, ut it's not in horrible condition. The interior, n the other hand, as definitely seen better days and needs replacement. Fortunately all the new interior parts are available as reproductions.
The original matching numbers engine does start and run but it has a very loud knock, o it definitely needs a rebuild. The car will need to be trailered. The automatic transmission was just professionally rebuilt. The brakes were recently rebuilt. The tires, lthough older, avehardly been driven on and are like new with no cracks or dry rot. The car has been stored inside since it was retired from daily driving duties. The car still has its original Pace Car specific wheels and blue glass T-tops with no cracks.
As this has always been a desert car, here is absolutely no rust in the frame or birdcage. Basically this Pace Car needs paint, nterior, n engine rebuild, nd all the other smallmiscellaneous things; however, t's a great project car because it's complete, nmolested,un-hit, nd rust free. In terms ofdesirability and collectibility, f all the late C3 Corvettes the L-82 Pace Car is the one to have. It definitely deserves to be restored!
