Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1969

I am the 5th owner of this car and have owned it for the last 25 years. It is now time to find a good home for her. It has an older restoration, hich I performed with the body on, uring the 2000 to 2003 time frame. This is a very late production '69 with a production date on the trim tag as Dec. 3, 969. The 1969 production year was longer than normal and ran from Sept. 1968 through the end of Dec. 1969. GM produced 38762 units and this car is #37202. Because of the late production date, his required finding some rare parts to restore this car correctly. I have tried to restore this car using the NCRS Guidelines, s much as possible. I would rate this car as a solid #2 car with strong drive line, ngine compartment, nterior, nd a good driver quality paint job. Since it has a 14 year old paint job, t is just starting to show some minor signs of age. When I purchased this car it had approximately, 13k miles on it and I have only put another 13k miles on it over the last 25 years. The information below is intended to give all bidders a description of each area of the car.

Engine Compartment

The engine is the original 427/390 HP motor, lock # 3963512 that came with the car. The stamp pad matches the car. I researched and found that the car's engine had an extensive rebuild just prior to my purchase by a Corvette shop in Charlotte, C. The engine was bored 30 over and rebuilt with TRW 10.5 pistons, angle valve job, oller rockers, nd now runs on unleaded premium gas. It also has a Comp Cam 280 Magnum hydraulic camshaft. Engine is strong and runs smooth with a very mild lope at idle. It does turn heads at local car shows. I also believe that this engine has the original heads, luminum intake # 3947801, nd exhaust manifolds.

Transmission

It has the original M20 4 speed transmission with trans # P9K16A 737202, hich I had rebuilt by Tony's Corvette Shop in Gaithersburg, D.

Rear Axle

It has the original 3:08 Heavy Duty rear with casting # 1 CAT 11 19 69 W.

The following are a list of items that have been restored or replaced with matching numbers:

ENGINE COMPARTMENT

Smog equipment - Was not there when I purchased the car so I replaced with correct dated and functional pieces.

Alternator - Late production '69s were built with either 1969, r 1970 alternators. This car would have been built with a 42 amp unit. I located a correct dated 1970 42 amp alternator #1100900, ut had it rewound for a 61 amp for more charging power. The amperage is not noticeably different for any judging and works great.

Carburetor - When I purchased the car it had a replacement Quadrajet carb #7029207. It took me years to find the right Quadrajet, 7029215 with a good date to match the car. This carb was rebuilt by a Quadrajet expert in Denver, o.

Distributor - # 1111926 (although I am running the original points style distributor, also have an MSD 6AL box hidden on the inner fenderwell (passenger side) for smoother starts and running in general).

Fan Clutch - I have had the original, ated, an clutch rebuilt and it looks great. It is not on the car, ut will come with the car.

Radiator - I had the radiator re-cored years ago and it does a great job. So, t has the original side tanks, ut the top and lower radiator core supports are different than the original. The original date tabs are still mounted to the passenger side tank. The radiator expansion tank is also correctly dated with an original RC-15 cap. Car runs cool.

Horns - original dated, ebuilt

All hoses and belts are correct and dated replacements with the correct tower clamps.

INTERIOR

Carpet - new carpet was installed front and back.

Seats - were disassembled down to the frame, ainted, nd then new foam was mounted prior to new seat covers being installed. Seat foam and seat covers were purchased from Al Knoch. New replacement plastic seat backs (on the back side of the back rest) were installed.

Seat Belts - The 1969 model had more than one design seat belt. Being a late production '69 this car was built with the square silver receiver and a narrower tongue than the earlier design. I have installed the correct seat belts on this car.

Gauges - All gauges work except the clock.

Rear Compartment Doors - Replaced with new hinges

Passenger Side Rear Compartment - Original lift out compartment with original flocking. Below this is the original jack.

Driver Side Rear Compartment - Recent replacement (within the last 18 months) of AC Delco Battery, ith a knife blade battery shut off switch.

Door Panels - These were replacement units when I purchased the car and are still in excellent shape.

EXTERIOR

The Riverside Gold paint is a two stage paint job that was shot around 2002 by a professional painter. When it came out of the paint booth, t only had a very slight bit of orange peel, o I elected to not have it wet sanded and buffed. It is now showing some signs of age, hich could be helped with a little wet sanding and buffing. But it also has developed a couple very fine cracks that are very hard to see. You have to know where they are or you will have a difficult time seeing them. This paint job still does very well in local shows.

When I restored the car I installed a new Al Knoch convertible top with correct dated rear window. The top is still in good condition, ut starting to show some signs of age. No exterior tears in the top, ut two very small tears on the inside pads. This top still shows well for local car shows.

The car was originally built with a painted hardtop, ut unfortunately, as not available when I bought the car. I did find an early '69 hardtop that I installed the correct black vinyl material from Al Knoch, hich looks great on the car. The hardtop is in good condition and comes with the car.

Exterior Chrome is in good condition. The luggage rack was re-chromed about 12 years ago by Librandi's in Harrisburg, A and still looks great.

Vacuum Headlights and Wiper Door operate correctly, p and down.

Rear Taillight lenses were replaced with correct replacements.

Original Front Fender Louver Trim were re-conditioned.

Spare Tire Carrier was replaced with a NOS, on-painted original.

Keys - Are correct replacements with the ignition key (square head) fitting the ignition and door locks. Round key fits center compartment door and the correct spare tire lock, ith new rubber boot.

Wheels are the original dated Rally Wheels. Center caps are original. The trim rings are replacements.

SUSPENSION

Front suspension was rebuilt with new A arm bushings and Grand Touring coil springs from Vette Brakes. The calipers (front and rear) had been rebuilt prior to my purchase and continue to be very serviceable.

Rear suspension was rebuilt with a replacement 9 leaf spring and bushings, s well as new strut rods with bushings. The trailing arms were also rebuilt. The emergency brake pads were replaced with stainless shoes and work very well.

Tires are BF Goodrich Comp TAs 235/60 x 15

This car is setup to be either a very good weekend driver quality car that will show very well at your local car shows, r with a little effort, ake it to the next step with NCRS judging. This is not a distress sale, don't have to sell the car, ut prefer to see it go to a good home. I have set a reasonable reserve and the winning bidder will have entered into a contract to purchase the car, ot to come kick the tires. The car is sold as is. I have tried to provide an accurate description of the car but if there is some additional information please contact me and I will try to answer any questions.
